free mechanic's gloves

I just got mine in the mail today. Received in about 2 weeks. Valvoline oil has a rebate. Buy 5 quarts of oil, send in your receipts and proof of purchase( bottle tops) and they send you a Real nice set of leather palm gloves with stretch backs in your size. They fit nice and are high quality. I bought my Valvoline oil at Oreilly's. Its a good deal.

Funny how things change. I "mechanic-ed" for a living (summer job) for three years, and re-built three cars over twenty years, and I never even thought about using "mechanics gloves". They'd be for sissies, and how could you possibly hold a nut, or even a wrench, with gloves on?

I bought my first set two years ago, and I'd never go back. I think I have worn out three pair already, and the first thing I do when I start wrenching is slip on those gloves. My hands may not be quite as calloused, and the grease under my finger nails doesn't last all week now, but I don't have "wounds" that take weeks to heal either. My current pair is almost exactly as shown above, and I quite like them.

Another thing I see alot working at Summit, is a finger tip glove that is magnetic. Seems like that would be awesome to help get the nuts on for the carbs.

I use latex gloves when I open my hood. They're pretty cheap, keep the hands clean and provide good grip. The only downside is that they do tear when you catch an edge.

I've been messing around with por-15 the past few days and rubber gloves are absolutely necessary when using that stuff. But I cant stand the feeling of them especially when working with tools. I usually don't wear gloves as I feel it makes everything more difficult.

I am in sales these days and dirty finger nails really don't lend a very clean impression, especially since I am selling to healthcare professionals.

I prefer the latex or vinyl gloves as they offer the best protection from grime. The cheap ones you get at the parts store are actually fairly strong. BUT if you can get your hands on a box of the purple nitrile golves that are used by EMT's and nurses, they are much tougher!!! And Hypoallergenic, if that is a concern. Try your local INDEPENDENT retail Pharmacy, your chain pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, Osco) will not have them.

Re: leather mechanic's gloves - I have a pair in every vehicle and a couple pairs in my toolbox. Love them too, absolutely the best for yardwork, working with rusty bits on cars, and I won't run the chainsaw without them.

If you have ever worked on cars outdoors in the winter, you have probably found it nearly impossible to keep your hands warm and be productive handling tools and parts. The absolute best solution is a pair of latex/vinyl or nitrile gloves, and then a pair of leather mechanics gloves over that. Outstanding feel, and decent warmth. You will still need to warm your every so often, but your hands will continue to function A LOT longer.

You found an old bicyclist's trick! When I used to ride in cooler weather, I would put on a pair of latex gloves under some thin polypropylene gloves. Still had good feel for handling the bike, but those headwinds while riding at 40 degrees didn't numb the fingers quite so fast. Plus, you'd sweat a little because of the latex and this would hold the heat in pretty well too.

Food Grade ...

I use 'food grade' vinyl clear plastic gloves they are much more fuel resistant than latex gloves plus stand up to nicks and snags much better - $10 for 100 pairs!

The purple, green or blue nitrile gloves are even better but more expensive.

Main advantage is stripping these gloves off ... and already having clean hands!

gloves on first brake job

this is my first complete from brake job.
new caliper, new line, new rotor, and new pads. it was on a buick skyhawk,my winter driver..a real POS.
I had trouble with a stripped bolt so I drove it to Chad's house, who helped me get it loose.

I gained a lot of new skills..first time to bleed brakes too.(Intially my pedal went to the floor). I feel ready now to tackle my opel brakes, as I am in need of new rotors and calipers.

These gloves are great. You dont lose much feel..and the padding is great for when you slip.

these are $20 gloves,,that are free with $10 of oil.

Now go fill out your coupon!
