Help With Motor Mount Brackets

I took the motor mount brackets off my newly rebuilt 1900cc (72 GT) to clean/paint. Now that i'm getting ready to drop the motor back in i've discovered that the bolt holes for the motor mounts are in different locations on the brackets???

Which one goes on which side of the motor? HELP!!!

the drivers side engine mount will have a flattened out spot in it for a wire clip to sit on. the top of the mounts kinda round out on both, but you'll see a flat spot in one of the rounds. the wire clip holds the battery cable, and i've heard rumor that the passenger side mount makes that side of the engine sit lower somehow in a attempt to provide more clearance between the hood and carb

Tilted

The GT motor is not on the level! It is tilted towards the carb side. Careful scrutiny of the engine brackets will show that they are not actually "square" and that the holes which the engine mount bolts fit up through are at different lengths in from the outer end of the mounts. The hole on the carb side is in closer to the block and visa versa for the Drivers side. I think!

Jim I believe this is the correct location for the mounts above equator.
The Motor mount bracket with the hole closest to the end of the of the bracket for which the stud of the motor mount goes through is located on the carb side. The other mount bracket which has the hole closest to the engine attachment side goes on the starter side of the engine.

Yep - went and had a look at my original motor and then changed the new mounts on my rebuilder block to the correct sides.
That is what hanging off the world by ones feet does to one! :o

Don't feel lonely I had to go out in the shop and verify about a half dozen GTs to make sure myself before I 'assumed' I was correct. Old age and to many years of Opeling will do that to you, plus being down under your blood rushes to yalls head and just makes you feel older while up here its in our feet therefore due to the lack of blood in the head we feel older or vis-versa.

Thanks for confirming that I was not light headed Jim.
