Really a very nice look, Eric. It's got that '96 Corvette Grand Sport vibe to it. All that's missing are 2 driver side red hash marks to complete the appearance.

Wow! I didn't know what that car looked like until I looked it up...you are right! Whoever did the paint job on my car must have had some inspiration. Obviously they stopped at appearance for similarities...

Also, thank for the compliment, I appreciate it.

When I bought the car 8 years ago, the only thing on the car that was 'done' was the paint job....and it had damage on the nose of the car. The guy I bought from had a wicker couch fall on it when he was cleaning out his garage. The paint was scratched up and it popped it completely off down to the bare metal in one spot that was about 1 1/2" x 3". Other than that, everything else was original, and not in the best shape, and it had no brakes at all.

    blending

Over the last couple of weeks I have been attaching my fiberglass panels. I used 3m automix 8115. I also used aluminum rivets on the underside of the side skirts and the top edges of the front spoiler. All of the pieces feel sturdy and solid.

Next I have been using DynaHair to blend the seam between the fiberglass and steel. After the first layer hardens I sand it into shape. The second layer I am using dynaglass. It is a little easier to work with and helps form a smooth shape.

After I am done with the glass, I plan on using a thin coat of Evercoat rage gold, then a final skim coat of Dolphin glaze. Any thoughts on my process. So far it is working well.

    blending

I finished the whole process on the passenger side. The air dam, side skirts and rear qtrs are all mounted and blended in. Now its time to pull her out of the garage and flip her around to do the other side. I have to figure out how to get the front end off the jacks without damaging the air dam. I'm afraid my jack wont fit under the dam when I try to lower it down.

I also talked to a auto body shop in town. I asked how much to just spray the color and clear, then polish it out. They charge $48/hr and think it should take about 4 hours total. For that, I am gonna have them spray it.

do you have dry/flash time factored in?

its worth every penny even if it was 10 hours.

    Passenger side done

I pulled her out of the garage to flip her around. The passenger side is done. Just another 10 hours of blending and sanding and she will be ready for some color.

    update

Ok, here's an update. I have actually been moving along pretty well. I finished all of the body work front to back. She is ready for paint! I am just waiting for the funds. In the meantime, I have started on the interior work. I pulled the seats, carpet, center console parts and surveyed what had to be done.

I found about a quarter sized rust hole under the driver's feet. I cut that out and welded in a repair panel. Then I went onto trusty old Flea bay and bought 50 sqft of 80 mil sound deadener. I also scored a the full replacement carpet kit for $157. I have put all of the deadener down on the passenger side and tranny tunnel. Pretty neat stuff.

Ok now here is the big one!!! I bought some Prelude seats off of craigslist and they were too wide. So I scoured the interweb for...... Ready for it??? Quality/inexpensive replacements. So tonight I found these and ordered them up.

CPA3001 All Black Leatherette Cipher Auto Universal Jeep Seats - Pair [CPA3001PBK] - $449.00 : Cipher Auto!, Automotive Parts Accessories & Universal Racing Seats

I got the pair for $357 delivered from 4x4factory using an online coupon. Look at the measurements!! They are almost identical to the stock opel seat dimensions. Cipher Auto gets GREAT reviews all over the place for quality for the price. Most say more comfortable then their stock mustang and camaro seats and better looking. I will let you know how it goes when they get here.

Very impressive skills & vision for this project. I'm amazed on how much you have accomplished on your own in such a short time.

I can't wait to see the final product...

    Best of luck

Those seats really do look great. With such similar looking upholstery and stitching, it looks like a modernized version of the original seat. I look forward to seeing them in your car.

    interior work

I've been working on the inside. I stripped out the old carpet and padding, layed sound deadener and new carpet. I am cleaning and prepping the center console parts. My new seats are due to arrive tomorrow.

    brackets

I am going to re-use the original sliders from the stock seats. I will run a piece of flat steel across the bottom of the new seat using the existing mounting holes. Then mount the old sliders on the flat strap at the correct width.

I layed them in there and they fit great. I'm 6'3" and my head is definitely closer to the headliner but I don't hit.

    Jamie,

Those seats actually look even better than I expected in the GT.
I'm also 6'3" so I was waiting to see how they fit. My main concern is always how thick (tall) the seat bottom is since that is the part that stacks us to the roof. How thick is the seat bottom when compared to the original seat? Did you test fit with rails or straight on the floor? If it was without, that will be another 1/2" to 5/8" closer to the headliner.
