Speedometer is disconnected and roger on the ears. That canvass bag on the shifter is in great shape! I thing I had some mud daubers living in there years ago. I pulled out four or five big rocks. LOL!!!

When the engine/transmission are on the ground, do you separate the two?

Yep, after you drag them out from underneath the car.

That looks great! Did you do the work yourself? What was the pain level in smoothing out all of the cracks?

    dash

I left the cracks alone. I'm going to use double back tape to hold it down a few members have done this and said it has worked for years. I painted the dash pad and the part of the dash that is not covered by the dash pad. Here is a pic you can see were the pad stops below the GT emblem. Take you front tires off if you haven't already it gives a lot more room to slid the motor out. Are you taking good pics off what you have done so far?

When you put the dash back in, do you think it's going to be tight up by the windshield?

Thanks for the heads up on the tires. I'll take them off.

I've been taking a lot of pictures. Every time I remove a wire, and snap a pic, and also put some tape on the end stating where it came from. I'm planning on replacing every piece of wire that extends in and thru the engine compartment and rear end of the car. Just trying to find a good place to buy some wire where I don't have to buy 500' of it. I'm really looking forward to the challenge. :-)

No the shell is very thin. I have never put back on a dash so we will see. I have heard it can be a bitch to line up the screw holes with the windshield in. I have a parts car that I'm going to try and put threaded post in and see if that will make it easier to install.

Well the lenses made it into my trunk and then into my workshop at home....only took two days since the first day I forgot they were in the trunk and drove around with them for a day. Hopefully this weekend I will get to clean them up a little and see how good or bad they are. I am finally working on the Honda electric windows again that I started 18 months ago so I am spending time in the shop again.

    Rear Fog Light

I dropped the bumpers off at the chrome shop yesterday, and they asked what the hole on the bottom side of the rear driver's side bumper was for. The only answer I could come up with was a rear fog lamp. Does anyone have a picture of an original Opel period correct rear fog lamp that would've been used on the GT? Has anyone done this kind of mod? I saw a post from 10 years ago, but I never saw any results.

unless there is a factory rear fog as unheard of or rare as front chrome strip- why keep it?

Never seen an USA Opel GT with factory rear fog lamp (light).
Sport car catalogs used to show European style, red fog lamps (before LED).

Why would I weld it shut? Just another added cost that i don't need.

Nothing wrong with adding a nice piece of vintage hardware that'll make the car standout.

how big is he hole? if its small, its barely any$ for the chrome shop.

I do agree it would be a cool touch to find some type of old hella light to add.

Why are we talking about welding the hole shut?

I'm looking for a rear fog light to fill the hole.

Because you have a hole in your bumper that doesn't belong. While that light might be period correct it is not stock. maybe your car was imported with a rear fog?

    sorry for trying to help.

I checked another GT bumper yesterday afternoon, and the hole was on that one too. I have a feeling that all of our bumpers probably have that same hole. Let me know if yours has one too.
