Yes sir. I also got into the habit of doubling up the steel thickness there on the inside. Cant do it to the outside or else the part doesn't fit anymore into the intended space.

Hello Gene, good to see you're on the mend. I hadn't noticed there were gussets for the trailing arms as well. My LCA's look good but I think I might have the hairline cracks in my trailing arms. PM me if you find the extra kit. _ Peter

Per Gene's comments, there are also pics of a Manta front end being reinforced in this photo album.

Conceivably that could give me a 13" stock set for vintage show, a 13" set for autocross, and a 15" set for just driving around. Not sure I am sold yet on the 15" appearance though. In some of the pics I have seen of 15's on the car the tires/wheels look ....wrong. They look too big for the car. Maybe those don't maintain the same overall diameter as the stock tire?
I had a hard time switching from the stock rims but ended up going to Discount Tire and moving up to 15" rims and tires to be able to get some quality tires. Most rims I did not care for at all- too modern looking but found some I can live with that actually blend in with the black and chrome that's on the car. I've heard the stock 13" wheel's center can be kept and converted into a 15" rim but not sure who actually does that.

The one glitch is that the dust cap on the hub is too tall so the center caps don't fit. Is there a shallower one that will fit or would it be OK to drive without the dust cap? The center cap for the wheel is a pretty tight fit....
I would leave the hub bearing cap on and go without the rim's center cap. I had the same problem on the front and painted the hub's bearing cover black to match the rim and it looks fine. I don't think you'd want water and grime getting into the wheel bearings.

Are you coming to Carlisle? If so are you bringing the Manta? I have some center caps that might work.

Your Manta looks great! I hope mine looks that good when it's finally done. It took some time but I am happy with the wheels I chose. They have that old school look with the center set in from the polished rim not to different from yours.

Hi Karl, No, unfortunately my Manta is not ready. I am going to to be working hard to get her ready for the June meet in Brookline, MA. I am curious about the caps though -can you send me some more info?

Got back from the office and thought I would get a bit more work done. Pulled the old shocks and replaced with new. Put in new KYB's as a stopgap - still want to get Bilsteins.

Separated the discs from the hubs and mounted the new discs. New discs are larger 75 model year type - upgrade! Nice to be tightening something for a change. Nothing like that satisfying click as the torque wrench reaches the desired setting.

Seals look good -I have new ones but don't think I need them. Thinking I should I clean out the old grease and replace with new -how much axle grease should I put in there? The manual doesn't provide any clues..

Just a little bit. 1975 rotors are .500" thick instead of .440" thick, and 9-5/8" OD instead of 9-3/8".

Calipers are different and pads are larger too.

I received the RallyBob gusset kit. On Tuesday I'll be reviewing the work with a local shop that may be doing the welding for me. I hope I can get all this done before German Car Day in Brookline. Still need to refinish and then reassemble.

So much to do. I will install the Weber and new fuel pump while the parts are out for refinishing. Time to search threads for lessons learned on carb replacement. I have the small air filter that came with it but I think I will want to either use the stock filter assembly or a new "cold air" type kit.
