FO81, can you please tell me what issue was raised in the thread: CL- Opel GT 1970 - $5900 , specifically your comment "That car looks, oddly, familiar." ? The Moderators are currently discussing what to do regarding the resulting posts by Yellow73GT, and the Original Poster's next thread. Thanks in advance. Keith

Just wanted to thank you for all your help with the Ford T5 info and for your help with my sometimes dumb questions. Looks like it might be the way to go!

My trip would be just over 200 miles, that still is okay on the rear axle on an Opel? Just checking.

    Thanks,
    Jim

I'm not the best at adjusting carburetors. I want to get rid of this solex carburetor and put on a Weber. I don't know if that's difficult to do. I have been fine working on it by myself but just want to know there is somebody if I get in a bind. It was running up until tonight now it's acting like it's not getting gas. I will pull the gas lines this weekend to see if plugged. Only thing I did different is I replaced the gas vent lines before running it today. Replace the rear brakes and they sound like they're rubbing inside the drums maybe any old break place can take care of that. Just would like to find someone who can do a vacuum test and just basically check it on a machine

Do you know anyone in the Portland area that works on opels? The mechanic I use on occasion refuses to work on an Opel. Kind of made me mad

Well, the GT from below has been fixed and now my son has it. He's working on curing its cancer and making good progress.

Now I have the blue one in the picture. Working on fixing a few things before I send it off to be readied for painting.

Yes, it needs a little work. Most of all, to make it a daily driver, it needs an engine rebuild. I fixed the charging prob and the lighting problem already.
I figure since my son is a body man and I know a ton about Opel GTs (but not as much as some on the forum) I can rebuild the engine with no problems.
Back in the 80's I used to work on these things. I've rebuilt tons of GT motors.

When it's all said and done, this will be my sons car.

Just saying hi to a local. I am hoping to be in Tacoma also, with my son. We looked at that car too but it needed more work than we could give it. My son decided to work/ save money for a daily driver instead of a car that needs work right away. Rob & Tim in Battle Ground
