    Juan P. Blanco R.I.P.

This was mentioned in the "Members we have lost" thread, but feel it deserves its own.

Juan P. Blanco and I had quite a history, and didn't see eye to eye on most anything. A couple years ago I sent him a message that I was done with the online bickering and competition, and he responded back that he felt the same way and it didn't benefit either side. Juan was battling Cancer as many on the forum knew, and he lost the final battle.

I only knew Juan as a fellow Opeler. Bought some rear brake caliper brackets from him and found him to be a standup guy. Even though he was a irascible rascal at times I am saddened that we never met in person.

RIP Juan, for you the battle is over and you have earned it.

Juan brought a lot of knowledge to our group and I will miss his posts and advice. His ability to adapt parts from other cars to our Opel's was second to none.
We wrote each other several times about meeting in Carlisle. Maybe some day I will meet him at the big Carlisle in the sky.
    RIP Juan.

I first met Juan on the forum here, and got his Volvo kit for the brakes of what was to be Atlas.

Was he Contankerous, yes.. but a great guy once you got to know him.

If not for Juan the Atlas project would have never survived, I owed him a huge debt of gratitute for that alone.

Hard to believe it was over 4 years ago that it left Juans and arrived to my house.

From that project we later collobrated on his EDC EFI project. But as cancer took up a lot of his time, and his friends from europe got in the way, added to the new motor on Bens Manta wasnt behaving, the EFI project ran aground. But supposedly there are a few running his system now. But never got the contact info on who. Fast forward a year and he was updating software and it looked version 2.0 was around the corner.. sadly it was not to be.

I will miss our conversations, and disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel not ever getting the chance to shake his hand and thank him for everything face to face.

I'm heartbroken. I just got to know him over the past year and talked to him on the phone a few times regarding his EFI projects. What a wealth of knowledge. Sorry to hear this news and the Opel community is certainly at a loss.

    RIP Juan

Sorry we never met. I always was impressed by his ability to transplant other engines into our beloved Opels. Juan, like all of our departed Opelers, will be missed.

Very sad news, too many old guards have passed in the past 18 months. Our Prayers for his family 62 is way too young to die. Ron

Maan, I was under the impression that he was winning the war against the cancer.

I liked Juan even if he didn't always play nice with the other children but if you asked him the right question, or perhaps any question the right way, he would go out of his way to reply to you and we've exchanged PM's as well as e-mails and I ended up buying one of his ECUs a while back.

One of the good guys in my book and I've learned quite a bit from him, I'll miss him a lot

This really caught me by surprise. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Wait a minute, is that a Turbo down there?
