Got a Picture?
I would not be surprised if 3.3L Vauxhall Cresta gearboxes of the same era were similar - the small four-speed out of GTs/Mantas is the same design as Victors .. and Bedford vans!

Crashed box
I have been told that the transmission used in the Chevrolet Vega here in the US was the 6 cyl. Opel box. That being said the internal parts, such as cluster gear, gears and syncros are the same as the 4 cyl. CIH Opel transmission. The case input bearing and the output shaft spline are not the same as the 4 cyl. nor is the case because of the bigger input shaft bearing being larger than the 4 cyl.

More Opels than sense
|
It's the same gearbox as used on the 4 cylinder Opels and it's a popular upgrade for Opel GTs here in the US. Call Gil Wesson or Dennis Gardner @ Opel GT Source (1-800-opelgts) as they sell them for GTs and there's no reason you couldn't get one of those for your Commo.
Cheers, N. |
