Thoughts on a late winter/early spring New England meet

As some of you know I have finally procured a workshop space for my own project cars. While I'm still a way's off from having the space finished, I'm making progress, and hopefully within 4-6 weeks it'll be revamped and painted to my satisfaction.

Since this shop is in an industrial area, during the week the lot is filled up with cars. But on weekends the parking area is virtually deserted, leaving me with more than my allotted 8 parking spaces available. I'm thinking we could hold a small Opel meet at my shop on a Sunday or Saturday, whether it's just to BS a bit and have a few beverages, or to tinker on some Opels and get a bit more technical. I'll have a car lift by then as well.

The location is about 20 miles/30 minutes due south from Springfield MA, or about 10 miles/20 minutes northeast of Hartford CT.

Space is somewhat limited since the shop is only 1800 square feet and is pretty much filled with cars and tools, but the cars could be moved outside for more shop floor space if needed.

Comments welcome!

Bob

I'm in.

Bob - For a lift check out Ampro They are located in Seekonk, MA.
I picked up a 9,000lb 4 post lift from them at their warehouse in Central Falls, RI. No shipping that way. They loaded it on my trailer and I was able to unload and assemble it by myself. (give an Opeler a 2x4 and we can move anything)

Mine's already ordered. I have a 10,000 lb. 2-post Bend Pak coming in, free delivery included! They list it for $2565, but was on sale until the end of 2007 for $2382 delivered.

I'd be up for a little meet. Just bought a house in Windsor Locks so I'd be around!

Any progress on the 1.5?

Then perhaps we should start talking about potential dates. I will not be available Feb 22-24th since I'll be at VIR for a NASA event again, but otherwise I am fairly open.

Not really. I did tear everything down, and of course as luck would have it I dropped the block and broke the rear main cap. But since the block is an early 1.7 with the 'small' main caps, I think I will just steal a set of them from a later 1.9 and have the block align-bored with the stronger caps.
It's on my 'to-do' list, just need time and money now!

Mike, I'm open to suggestions. January is too early, the shop isn't ready yet.
It should be a Saturday or Sunday of course.

February? (except for the weekend of the 22-24th)
March?
April? (although I might be going to Florida for a few days)

Any later and we potentially cut into Carlisle time. Unless it's much later, like during the summer.

Sounds good Bob, count me in.

If you need an extra set of hands some weekend in January/February for painting or general shop setup, I'll volunteer.

Thanks for the offer. Painting's nearly done, the biggies will be building my overhead storage loft and setting up the car lift when it arrives. And I need an electrician to finalize my power needs. I have a friend who has offered but with the holidays we haven't crossed paths yet.
