Upgrade time

New releases of the programs this site runs on are coming out all at once. I will be upgrading the Forums soon and anticipate that some of the other features will need to be upgraded also. So some of the add-ons may be not available for a short time.

The main page program also has a new release that has a new look and many new features. I'll try it on a test server before loading on this site.

Well I see some problems. It is not marking all the threads I read from the last time I was on.

Same thing here, I read all the posts, hit the refresh button and some of the posts are marked as read, then when I get back on the site later on, all posts are marked as unread.

Looks like it is a problem in the main page. The forum index updates ok.

Same here, threads up to 4 days ago came up unread, and I know I marked them read, I always do that when I have gone thru the forums, it's actually funny, threads from 5 days ago stay marked read

Gary, this is sorta unrelated but annoying just the same. When I use the seach engine here, and click the 'search posts' button, the search engine will open a page with the specific requested posts. However, when I click on the specific post, it always brings me to the top of the entire thread (page 1) rather than the specific post. So I have to search through potentially hundreds of posts to find what I'm looking for anyway.

"View first unread" is not working as of right now for me.

The way the time settings for "unread" --> "read" are handled were changed in the last upgrade from cookie based to time based. I'm looking into changing those settings. The way they are displayed in the main page is also affected.

I haven't had a problem since the first fix Gary. I'm using Netscape 7.2, and it marks read between the two computers. I do notice the P-II 300 is much slower than the P-III 500 computer now, both used to be just as fast before the upgrade. Must be more bells and whistles in the new upgrade that are in background.

I just made a change. The forums are now automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read. The "old" way was based on after "X" time of inactivity, all forums were marked as "read".

We can go back to the old way if this does not work out.

I don't know if this is in the area of your up grades, but I lost a few fotos.

I tried and I think successfully uploaded a *.MOV movie. It said it was loaded successfully but it is no where to be seen.

Is *.mov accepted or are they on the no no list?
