Unanswered: Would an ITB setup work?

I have been in love with the idea of individual throttle bodies since I saw them back when I was building my turbo civic. Obviously I couldn't use them with a turbo setup but now with the Opel I do not plan on turbo'ing it I want the power now not later and if I wanna play with turbo i have a 08 subaru sti for that.

So my main thought is that the runners would need to be short on the intake for it to fit correctly I am not against having some individual runners built for the car but I know I would need alot of other things before it would work out.

Or maybe individual carbs? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. My only thought on the carbs is the tuning would be alittle more involved. I have been looking online at honda setups and some used toyota setups for ITB's it seems that they could be modified to work if there is enough room. The intake could be turned upwards more since it is FI and no need to keep floats level.

If you can find a set of intakes for a twin weber setup (not all that hard really), you can go with an ITB setup from extrudabody. Here's a pic of the setup I have for an Opel 2.4 head.

I have made NO progress really over the past year, so I can't comment on their performance - only that this is a system you can literally bolt on. There are other similar systems out there from TWM, Jenvey, and others that you can adapt. Plus, some folks have effectively adapted motorcycle throttle bodies as well.

Well I have been thinking maybe something from a motorcycle like a GSXR 1000 or similar. I also think I would get the wire harness from the bike as well. It seems like it should work out. The prices are good for the setup. As there are tons for sale on ebay.

I am currently working on a Jenvey set up on DCOE manifolds--sidelined by tree through garage! I think I posted pics of the ITB's a while back. Run a search and see if they come up.

Here is some eye candy:

Jenvey ITBs only 1.285" wide! No heater box cutting for me!
my I ask how much the Jenvey's cost?

I know one big problem is the small amount of room on the passenger side of the GT and it looks like the Jenvey's would solve that problem and it has the holes for the injectors

Dave,
I paid $900 for the ITB's in late 2007. Price varies due to exchange rate (England). I "justified" the expense thinking because they are a DCOE flange pattern, I could remove the whole FI system and with the MegaSquirt, it could be used on any car with Weber manifolds.

The heater box will not have to be cut, however I will have to notch out the cowl drain area slightly to clear a 90 deg AN fitting on the back of the fuel rail. I'll take pictures as soon as I get the car back home from hurricane exile in a few weeks.

I was looking at these ITB's eBay Motors: OBX ITB Individual Thorottle Body,Honda B16 B18,Type R (item 150307155589 end time Nov-29-08 21:57:00 PST)
I am not sure what the flange is on them though. Or atleast not what it is called. Anyone know the answer? Thanks

thanks James for the info

OpelNewb

those are Toyota 20V ITB's on a Honda custom intake manifold

the Toyota TB's are factory items so people have been buying them up they usually go for $200 to $250

I think OBX is a Chinese company that makes cheap copies of stuff

(not to say they wont work I personally don't know)
