Unanswered: Supercharging my Rekord
Just wanted to get you opinions/advice/thoughts on the engine im putting in my rekord. Currently i have a running gear from a 2.8 6 cyl monza running on carb, with 5 speed GB, while i phoned around to get a price on unleaded conversion and the guy said he had a brand new engine fully rebuilt and made for twin turbo's. i dont want to put twin turbos and all that in my car, its just a lil bit to old and wouldnt suit it. Anyway, the engine has forged pistons, rings, group a studs, forged arp bolts, ported , polished head, steel, crank, fast road cam, all bearings and gaskets etc... made for about 450-500 bhp, this is what i would like you advice on : 1. buy the engine get it skimmed to run natually aspirated and refurb carb. 2. buy the engine get a supercharger for it 3. having a supercharger, do i have to have fuel injection? can i run off my carb? 4. change gearbox to a getrag 265 or 240? or something from a senator/later monza/carlton ? Thanks alot, Jordan

Jordan,
1.) sounds OK, but don't skim it for a higher compression, you would need higher octane gas for it. 2.) sounds OK, but lots of $$$ (I know you have pounds over there, but I'm sitting on an American keyboard ).3.) that depends on the inlet connection for the charger. You most probably can fit carbs to it. 4.) The Getrag 240 might be OK for 1.), but not for anything else. If you really want the stated HP, you will kill a 265 in 500 milliseconds . For anything Northbound of ~ 260-280 HP, you need something bigger than a 265, e.g. a 6-speed from a Corvette ZR1 (same as Lotus Omega). Don't forget to upgrade your rear axle for anything more than ~ 200 HP.5.) What about this combination: 3.0-24V from Senator B / Omega A, plus a Getrag 265, and the original rear axle. Dead cheap on ebay, 204 HP, least modifications, bulletproof engine and gear box, just baby your rear axle a little. Or use one from a Commodore, it's good for ~ 220 HP, but has 5-lug wheel hubs. Dieter

Do you know of anywhere on how i can change from carb to injection to run the supercharger ? to i have to get all the stuff off a monza or does anyone know of another engine i can nick it from. the engine comes with its own injector rai and injectors i think already but lets just say it doesnt.
