Unanswered: 2.7 stroker finished and hit the road!!

Hi its been a while since i last post here been awfully busy.Did manage to finish at last the 2.7 stroker motor i was building for my manta B.At first i thought to make a realy torque street motor but then i kind of change my mind and decide to take it to the extremes.98mm bore and 90 stroke producing 2714cc,big porting on the cylinder head with 47/41 chevy valves with undercut stem.Dbilas double springs with aluminium retainers and the monster cam from dbilas 342@ 6.0TDC lift 100LSA and 13,9mm total lift.MSD ignition an coils and double 55weber DCOE/SP.Compresion ratio is 11:5:1.The result was a super smooth idle for this kind of engine,i guess the big cc and the compresion ratio helps a lot!!On the road i couldnt believe how willing the car was to pull from even 2.500rpm and you can realy feel the power coming in after 4000rpm but i stop the throttle there as this is the first kmh of the car and im planing to break in the car for about 4000kmh at least!!and i hit the throttel about 3/5 of its travel not gas floor.Realy the torque is something else even with 4th gear and 2000rpm on full throttle the car accelarates without hasitation like it would do in 3rd or even 2nd gearDid change the venturi of the 55's from 48mm to 44mm though,.But what makes me realy sad is that when i got those wiseco pistons i didnt have the contact i have now with venolia (thanks bob and duanne)to make them produce pistons with good valve pockets so i can use the cylinder head with 49/41 chevy valves of master bobs design as i will did on the 2512cc engine.sad as this will be at true monster i believe for a CIH engine.Well maybe next time.here are some pics.

Very nice! You need a new rocker cover now, with '2.7 Doppelvergaser' engraved instead of '2.4 Injection'

I dont have a clue what its power will beKadett-o-maniac told me if things combine together and work out well i should have over 240ps and at least 30kg of torque. If i can even get close to this numbers i will be very very happy!!!

yes i know having such carbs next to sign of fuel injection is kind of blasphemy i think. But that was the best looking rocker cover i had the only other good i have is the classic one that the opelgt has on is 1.9engine which im saving for the more old looks of manta a.

The real funny part is that the car it still shows on the papers as a opel manta B 1977 model with 1200cc engine.

Can't speak for the hp but the torque sounds reasonable, I have about 26kg in my 2.7 Mantzel engine and that engine only has about 175hp and runs on stock 2.0E fuel injection

And yes, the torque in those 2.7 engines really is something else, it's just instant power as soon as you apply any amount of throttle. I can't wait to get mine back on the road again

Very nice indeed!! What pulleys did you use in order to use that nice serpentine belt?

Jeff, I believe those are the Risse Motorsports cogged pulleys and belt. Crank pulley, water pump pulley, alternator pulley, and special belt. Roger Wilson has a set so I've seen them up close previously.

Just to add to the pot i'm achieving 25kg and 184bhp out of mine and thats with a displacement of 2436cc......i'd love to feel the extra shove of 30kg and 230PS

You've done a great job!

thanks a lot everyone for the kind words it realy is a prize after the trouble and work i put to pull this trough.I just cant wait to finish up the break in.The feedback i get already from the motor is incredible i just cant believe how agrresive it gets upon touching the throotle even with that extreme cam and carbs.I am very eager to see what it will do after 4000rpm since this is the point where you can realy feel the power coming in.But sudden accelaration and revving beyond the 4000rpm for the break in is just forbiden!!!!especialy with those crappy wiseco they realy need their time in the cylinder in order to live a fair amount of time.

So, is the "kg" as you Euro's seem to be describing as torque actually a "kg-m", as in 2.2 (pounds per kilogram) times 3.2808 (feet per meter) so that "30 kg" is "217 ft-lbs" of torque?

We "Euro's" dont use kgm any more, its Nm [Newton meter].
1 kgm equals 10 Nm

That's a lot of powerrrrrr

Yup....nice eh ?

If I remember correctly the 12v 3 liter six had about 175 ft-lbs and the 24v had about 190 ft-lbs, the latter about the same as my 2.7 in a lesser state of tune than Vagos' engine, that's a lot of torque in such a small car

That's a mad motor in a GT......
