Question Unanswered: 2.0 valve question

Quick question. I am rebuilding my 1.9 into a 2.0. I have the 2.0 pistons but have a question about the valves. Do I need to replace the valve seats in the head when I put in the larger 2.0 valves?

You really need to replace the exhaust seats is all. I replaced both though. Then I ported the head. It would be a good idea to at least blend the bowls and smooth the edges with a Dremel, after the machine work.

1.9L Head with 2.0L Valves

If your 1.9L head already has an exhaust valve seat fitted just stick with the 1.9L exhaust valve size and do a bit of a tidy-up directly under the valve - concentrate on the short side and DO NOT open the port out any further as it is already big enough for a street motor.

On the intake valve side there is probably no hardened seat fitted and it should be easy enough to have the valve seat enlarged to fit the 2.0L intake valve. Once again - just clean up the port below the valve, concentrating on the short side radius and leave the rest of the port at stock size for a street motor.

The 1.9L head has better flow potential than the later 2.0L head anyway. The above changes will give a better balance between Intake and exhaust flow - even with the larger 2.0L bore size. Some work on the combustion chamber to enhance flow around the intake valve will help some more.

Thanks guys. I am indeed building a steet engine. I don't need anything radical for my type of driving.

Those 95mm pistons would really like some extra flow from the head area.
So a little extra work in the head will pay off nicely even for a street motor.
The 2.0 pistons alone will bump up the C/R to a level that might require 93 octane.

How does over 100lbs torque at the rear wheels sound?
What cam are you planning on using?

I am going to put in an Isky 625166 (.430 lift .268 duration), solid lifter cam in my engine. Bud K
