Well, OBDII vehicles you can hook a scanner into for real time info. I believe MSD, and there are probably others, makes a device that allows you to change the timing from inside the car. Not an answer to your question but the closest I can do.

Thanks for taking a swing at it

OBD II and III seem to have this but our cars have neither

I been searching like crazy and so far nothing

I have been finding a few stand alone ECU's that have this feature

MegaSquirt does it, but I don't know if you are talking fuel injection or not.

Well I guess you could run an inductive pickup on one of the cylinders leads and compare it against a crank trigger. That could give you a nice dash readout of the timing advance.. but why?

The timing curve is locked. Unless its changed in software or in the dis. what
are you really up to?

Ha ha looks like I am busted
Well one of the most knowledgeable and helpful places I visit is the Opel Forum so when I get stumped on a question I come here.

I have a 5AGZ going together (it’s a bored and stroked Toyota 4A motor and the GZ means it’s also supercharged) but I won’t be satisfied unless I put a bigger blower on the thing so I have a SC14 to replace the stock SC12

Anyway with all these changes I need to get a handle on all aspects of the motor
AFPR (adj fuel press regulator), timing, and ECU
Before I left for Iraq I installed a touch screen radio with video inputs so I also added
SAFC and a HKS CAMP (computerizes automotive multi player)

I feel it is still applicable to the Opel (I still have two GT's) I just haven’t gotten back to them yet.

If I can figure out the pulley stuff an SC12 or SC14 would be a nice addition to the Opel motor (they can be picked up for around $200 to $250)

I like the The Early Days | BigStuff3.com
Then again the eec5 is also looking good to control the fuel leak.
You'll need a laptop
