Valve cover spacer

Bob,

How thick was that aluminum spacer that you welded to the bottom of the GT valve cover? I'd like to create a setup like that for mine if I ever get the roller rockers fixed.

Thanks,

Dave

Have you newest pictures or some more information of your project? Dear RallyBob, can i publish your project on my site - is this possible and OK for you? Or is anybody hear and have an other cih turbo- or supercharged project for my website?

This project has stopped for some time because of no money to continue. I will be disassembling the 2.0 block, and will replace it with a 2.5 litre block with forged 8.5:1 compression pistons. But the cylinder head shall remain the same, except for a camshaft change. Other projects are more important right now, and until more money is available, nothing else can be done.

I have also allowed another site in Europe to use these photos with my permission here: Retro Racing Opel club

For now, I will ask that you do not use these on your site. When it is completed and running though, then I don't see a problem using these photos as long as they are credited. If you want to supply a link to this forum though, that should be okay.

Bob

lack of words

I just spent hours reading this... and I am speachless...

Keep up this amazing work, Bob. I'm happy I'm not the only one who forgets about him with his hands deep inside the car... And, maybe, a short mouvie with the beauty running, in the end? - just an idea...

I recently asked RallyBob about dizzy recurving for a 2.4 stroker. This copied from this thread around page 8:
So Bob, what is the trick to removing that pesky little clip to separate the distributor cam assembly from the center shaft???

No trick Otto, takes 5 seconds. Clamp the cam portion in a soft-jawed vise, remove the felt plug from the center of the assembly, take a suitable drift (I used a 3/16" drift), tap once with a hammer, the main shaft falls right out.....
Best done with a set of helping hands so the parts don't fall to the floor. I usually end up doing it myself, but I taped the parts loosely together so they don't fall far.

Now replacing the clip is another story. Sometimes it takes me 10 seconds to put it back on, other times 10 minutes. Thankfully this time it only took me three attempts. I just drop the clip in place over the end of the main shaft, then using a pair of tiny needle nose plier push downwards. That's it.

Here are some pics of the tool I made to reinstall that little wire snap ring that holds the cam shaft to the center of the dizzy. I used one of the nuts and stud that hold the gauges in the GT dash. Turned it down on the outside so it would fit inside the dizzy hole. Drilled a hole just larger than the OD of the wire snap ring. Then use the stud threaded into the other end and use this to push the wire snap ring home. Works like a charm.
