Thanks. By the way, these guys are in the section of Detroit you don't want to be caught in at night. If you have any issues and need someone to stop in and see what is going on, let me know. By freeway it is only about 30 minutes away, and I drive past there pretty often for work.

Chris, that will be a quick ride!
My next big Opel project will be a clutch upgrade like you are doing. Even with my slightly modified motor, the stock older clutch is barely enough to take hard driving. Will have to do some reading to see what needs to be modified.
Thanks for the pictures.

Other than getting the rod ends opened up for the chevy pins, are you doing anything else to get them reconditioned?

I was debating if I needed to get mine shot peened or anything. I am not sure what all is involved in getting them 'reconditioned'. Also I saw you cleaned them up, did you also lighten them?

THanks,

THanks,

Reconditioning the rods mean making sure the big end is true. i also had them shot peened too. I ground off any excess metal from the rods exept from the weight area, but did round the corners. I didnt lighten them but I did match them to the same weight. 612 grams

Did you go with the offset grind method for getting the 2.4 displacement?

Chris,

When? I am hoping to have mine running in a few, but when do you think yours will be done?

time for another update. buy the way, when using "Great Stuff" gasket sealer and a stroked crank you will need to either use a steel oil pan or grind the aluminum one to clear the rod bolts. OOPS!! Right now I am waiting for the oil pan to finish curing and I'll be ready to drop it in.

Small update. Got the engine back in the car. The new flywheel and pressure plate clear the bell housing. Now to fit on the ancillary stuff, and decide on fuel delivery.

Now I need some expertise from those smarter than I. Will a stock Euro 2.0L EFI work with this engine I've built? Or should I try to trade the whole EFI for a set of DSD Irmshers (short runner) with 45 DCOE's? I want EFI but if too much money is needed to make it work with this engine right now I can get the DSD for awhile.
