With a brand new GM blue gear....but I got lazy and cut the yellow off the speedo adapter
Directions say install blue gear....so there got to be some yellow ones out there

I have installed the blue gear...which runs fast....thinkin maybe should of just left the yellow gear alone now what to do? Need a yellow 5 Speed gear. ....hope that solves the problem

To make the speedometer read slower you need more teeth on the driven gear, it will slow the reading down about 3 mph for every additional tooth.

I spoke to Mike about this and he does not know which Speedo he has in the car and he can no longer see the original face because he covered the faces with white faces.

While that I have no doubt about, I do know the 2.2L injection and 2.4L are different.

I was also told by Rav than the 2.2L Manifold is different than the 2.4L and that the 2.2L should fit under a GT/Manta hood, its only the 2.4L that will not.

    Is this correct ?

Is this a solution for the 3.18 to 3.44 rear swap too ?

At least with the Kadett I should be able to find a 3.18 speedo.. but if I could just swap a gear in teh trans that would be great.

BTW anyone have a 3.18 speedo ? or know what the W=xxx number is ?

If you are talking about the EFI intake manifold then yes the 2.2 will fit under the GT hood with a little modification to the hood lip in front of the windshield and also removing one of the hood "fold up" brackets and modifying the hood latch mechanism. The 2.4 intake is WAY to high to fit, I have one that I got from R'Bob.

I will see check with Rav and see if he can source any of the 2.2L intake manifolds, we still may have room for them.

Yup. But keep in mind the 2.2 EFI runners are actually smaller than a 1.9/2.0 EFI intake runners. That's the primary reason the 2.2 only makes 5 more HP than the 2.0.

And also the reason for cutting down a 6 cyl intake which has larger runners also.

I don't know if this applies to stickies, 4sp or 5sp, but when I had the 3:18 in my auto equipped GT with 195/60 R15 tires and a blue speedo gear, the speedo read dead on perfect and this was verified by numerous "Your Speed is:" radar signs on various highways. The car was originally a 72 with a stick. You've got the car, so you'll have to look at the speedo number to see which I had.

My public apology to Karl and others who have called me:

    I'm sorry!!!!

Apparently something goofy happened with my phone and I haven't been getting notified of messages waiting in my voice mail or missed calls. I just got done an hour and a half of listening to and deleting messages going back as far as March!

Jimmy, there's no hurry on me getting a rack and Karl, real near me, has a hoard of stuff I can draw from. I'll keep you in mind and thank you for the offer!
