DATE: May 18th - May 20th

Although many will show up on Thursday evening/afternoon (the 17th)

HOTEL:

Appalachian Trail Inn - (717) 245-2242 - 1825 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, PA

Website to pre-register: Carlisle Events - Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals - Home

Tshirts: They will be Blue this year and I will sell at the show. To avoid shorting any those that pre-buy I decided to not presale. I will do a poll on sizes to get an idea.

Friday Dinner: McCays Cave

Saturday Dinner: TBD - We are planning a evening drive to a local resturant to be determined, possibly near Gettysburg, or something like that.

We will have post dinner beer/wine tasting after dinner on Friday and Saturday. Adult beverages to be provided in BYOB fashion..

We are looking to do something special this year, possibly in a tech related session. Anywone with a stripped shell they need to rewire? I could show the basics of how that is done, or somethign of that nature.

Last year was my true first indoctrination to the Opel community and it was a blast. Since then I've made many friends land look forward to the next event.

Charles, based on comments last year we may want to rework the awards process so we address issues of concern ahead of time.

Are there often cars for sale at this event? Just wondering if this might be a good place to buy a GT.

How will Carlisle turn out in 2007, compared with the Route-66 Festival? I was in Carlisle only once, this spring, when it was the national meet. I can only go to one large (or far away) meeting per year, and I'm wondering whether it should be Carlisle or Route-66 in 07. The distance is about the same for me, +/- 700 miles.
Any tips from insiders to make up my mind are appreciated.

They're both great but very different settings. I've gone to both for the last 3 years and expect to do the same next year.

The turnout for Carlisle is bigger than Rt. 66 but with this Rt.66 being the national I would expect a better turnout than in years past.

If you can only go to one I'd say go to Rt. 66 in 07 and decide for yourself after that. But you can't go wrong no matter what you decide!

I have this sinking feeling that this will be the 3rd Carlisle that I have attempted to bring my car to and missed. But "It ain't over till it's over" so there is still hope. One way or the other I will be there, maybe if I trust it, I'll bring the 'Ghia. Looking forward to seeing everyone, car or no car.

Carlisel 07 is kinda a deadline you could say for my Gt to be done. I would really like to bring it this year. But at this rate I don't know if it will happen. Now that I am working 8 hour days and after that going to school full time, not getting home till 10:30 at night during the week I have little time to work on it. But I am deffently going with or with out it.

Hello Gang:
Let's get this ironed out early this year
OMC, OANA - what is the officially preferred way to register so as not to confuse our newer members - or me for that matter I think we decided to register under OMC last year.

Carlisle showground registration

From Last year:
http://www.opelgt.com/forums/opel-ev...-carlisle.html

"There is some confusion this year over what name/abbreviation we are using to register at Carlisle....
I'm just off the 'phone from talking to Barb, the very helpful lady at Carlisle, here's the scoop:
So far there are only 2 people registered, I'm one of them, and we are both registered under the following:
OPEL MOTORSPORTS/OANA
That's right, half in full, half in abbreviation....but hopefully will catch people no matter what they use.
Just thought I'd put this out to make everyone's life a little easier....
See you all in a little over 100 days....
Rob."

I'll assume the same goes for this year....now, just add that to my to-do list for tomorrow....

Exclamation Appalachian is now America's Best

Just spoke to the hotel...it seems there has been a take-over and it is now part of the "America's Best" chain.
I'll do the usual block booking, just have to call back tomorrow and talk to their sales manager.
I'll post again tomorrow when I have more info...
Rob.

Lynn, Shelby, Erin & myself will be there. We're still debating whether to get a hotel room or do the tent thing again. I'll get registered soon.

Duane;

With the mild winter we are having, it will probably snow at the show
