Duane, you are in the doghouse. Paintball or 150 hot German cars right in your neighborhood? The shame...

I'll probably get there at about 9 am. Visiting a friend in the am. Just three Opels, so close to Carlisle? This is your last chance all...

Yeah, it's pretty much like watching a tree fall on somebody.

Just FYI for everyone, the grounds open at 8 but you have until 11:30 to have your car there for judging. That takes a couple of hours.

Rick, I know you are GPSing it up, but I'd advise the scenic route for a much nicer ride. You can duck 476 at the turnpike and instead take 202N, 422W, Old Swede road. It's actually a little shorter distance than the turnpike, takes about the same time. If you mapquest and choose "avoid highways" it will show you the route, but I know you're all newfangled. I'd offer to carpool it but I'm going up tonight to see a friend in Kutztown.

Duane, good luck with your war game, hope you don't take a paintball in one of those "sensitive" spots.

I was the guy w/ the other guy that had the 911 parts from Camp Hill area.... Now I'm trying to find me a nice Opel to drive around in.. Since I got home and actually got sleep I've been trying to find out everything I can about these beauties... Hopefully I'll get a ride in one some day..

Wow ..... I don't know if i should say congrats or Sorry for giving you what we call here opelitis

It would be great to have another PA opeler. If you have any questions when buying, restoring or repairing your future aqiusition you have a few thousand experts here to help! As I said at the show, great bunch of people on this site.....for the most part

Good Luck on your quest for a GT....Be patient though....keep checking here for someone who unfortunately needs to sell their GT......and remember I had to fly to Michigan for mine, but it was well worth it.

It's good to hear the marque has a new fan ! We always enjoy hearing from people at these shows. There are many great "I used to own one of these ...." stories told. I even learned something yesterday; I was told that Opel sold V6 editions of the GT The guy telling me was sure of it

We saw lots of great show quality cars as well as many with a little patina to them. I'll try to post some pix in the next few days.

Adam and I had a great time - thank you Roger for claiming some prime real estate there in the shade ! Jim, congratulations for the "win" and thanks for the safety escort home (what would an event be without some kind of drama) and for taking Adam home for me. We even made the VW Scirocco Vortex site in pix !

We need more Opelers there next year, though. Mark your calendars now for July 13, 2008 !!!!!

It really was a beautiful day and a great show with many, many fine cars, easily 150 or more. Rick, Adam, Roger and myself got a lot of attention and questions about the Opels. Don't you love it when someone walks up and tells you he's sure GM offered a V6 in these machines like he's an expert? Rick was very diplomatic with the guy.

I met a lot of nice people though including a few Hemmings readers who came over to check out my car and the others. One older fellow came over with a bunch of racing stories including how Mantas used to dust his Scirocco in SCCA. Take that Adam.

I met another guy with an unbelievable and super rare BMW 2000tii (touring/international/injected) hatchback, a perfect ground up resto that won best bimmer at the show. He wanted a picture of our cars together because when he first took it out to show this year in South Carolina a guy came up to him and asked if his car was an "Oh-pell." So he named his car Opel.

I think events like this help the community, plus it was just a good time on a great day in the shade so we should build on it. I didn't take many pics but will post a few. I'm sure Rick will post the giant bird crap hit on my car, purple on yellow, looked like a Jackson Pollack painting. As you'd expect, he set me up for the pic as I was returning with my breakfast.

Like the others say, July 13, 2008. Mark your calendars.

Jim

Well, Mighty Mouse developed a slight hitch in his gitalong, we got him home easily (Opels always get you home) but didn't go underneath. Rick didn't want to wait for his dinner. From topside it sounded like maybe a u-joint or something farther back in the torque tube or rear that makes a little thunk when the engine picks up the drivetrain. Not real loud yet but noticeable and sure to get worse. Plus, I can smell a little gear oil but this might be an unrelated condition. We need to have a party at his place in the near future to further the examination.

You guys better show next year, it's a worthy event so mark your calendars now for July 12, 2007.

Duane, how did the paint ball party go or are you still in bed nursing your wounds and scratching poison ivy?
