Just booked a flight. So no Opel for me.
$257 round trip with a 2 hour direct flight from RI. Car rental is ~$100.00. Much better than driving for 13+ hours each way.

I will be in Charlotte airport ~9:00am Friday.

Hi Roy,
I found your post after I sent you the email. YES I CAN GO!!!!!!!!! Made hotel reservations at the Hampton. Will you be able to send me a packet? I will call your cell. I will drive my 1973 Opel GT. I will go thou Atlanta from Birmingham if anyone would like to follow. My wife is going so I my have to tie some baggage on top. Hope you still have some room at the show.

Looks like we may have a fairly good sized caravan leaving Atlanta. We haven't started on setting what time we may or may not get together, but, there will be a few leaving Atlanta.

I am picking up the passes, maps, etc., from the speedway officials Thursday night at a meeting for all the car clubs that are coming to the event. (54 car clubs at last count).

I will post a lot of information Friday morning! For those of you how want their packets sent to them, just let me know and they will be in the mail Friday afternoon. Otherwise, you may pick them up at the hotel Friday evening in the conference room. There will be a pizza party along with your "drink" that you bring.

Made my reservation at the hotel, still got the $99 rate, I think my better half (Valerie) is coming along and then we are going to vacation in the area after the show. Not looking forward to the drive but not so for the show. New target for debuting my GT is ..................once again..........Carlisle......... 2009.

This will be my very first car show I can’t wait. My wife is coming with me; she is not a big car fan so we will have to break her in right. She is a people person and loves to talk so she will be fine. She loves to travel but likes AC so I hope its not to hot or I may need a good divorce lawyer.

LMFAO. Wuss... Just being practical. (Must be my Portuguese heritage coming through):
26 hours RT driving, ~$160.00 for gas, ~$40.00 tolls, 2 extra vacation days, possible extra hotel room, food, etc. vs. $257 and 4 hours in the air + 100 for a rental car. Easy decision for a 60 year old...

It's on September 5 & 6.

I will be there with family Roy, but my car will be there in spirit. It likes its home in the Napa store, and they are fine with keeping it longer, so why the heck not I say.

Been keeping an eye on the 15 day weather outlook and the good news is that rain has been removed from Sept 5,6,7 for Charlotte, actually moved forward in the week. However it is predicted to be in the 90's for highs. I'll take heat over rain anyday.
