Nor Cal Fun Run 2008
Let's meet at IHOP in Sac (3800 Northgate Blvd Sacramento, CA 95834-1615) at 9AM. It is real easy to get to and hard to miss. Just come into Sac by I-5 or Hwy 80, take 80 towards Tahoe/Reno, and turn south on Northgate. It is on the east side of the street. Hit the road by 10AM. Then we head up to Auburn, and down 49 on the same route we took last year. End at the Lumberyard Brewing Company for eats/drinks. 19040 Standard Rd. Sonora, CA USA. Then head to Gils/OGTS if anyone wants to. Here is a link to a map of the route:Nor Cal fun run 2008

Nor Cal Fun Run
Just a thought, how about considering a meet (not in lew of ) for breakfast or an afternoon meet at a Sacremento area brew pub? or even just a BBQ. Some of our cars may not be up for the long haul,or work odd hours (that's me). It might be fun to just meet, and maybe more frequently at that. I may just show up at the IHOP anyway if schedule permits. Dean 74 Manta.

![]() I think Sac is a good Nor Cal central location for it. How about June?

I'd be up for hosting a gtg here in Sac. Got a 1/2 acre back yard,
good spot for Opels on the green. Fairly centrally located where 50, 99, business 80 all come together. Also have Hoppy's brew pub a short walk away. Now all I need is a running Opel. Don. |

Count Me In
Hey Chris,
Count me in. Just replaced the broken windshield in the GT tonight (by myself, in the driveway)-(it's dark now). Oh, BTW, made a flyer for the run on the 26th., with the IHOP as the morning meeting point, and have been passing them out to Nor-Cal & So-Cal Opel owners.

Sweet, thanks Dennis. can I get one too for scrapbook purposes?
Is Dave going to make it to? Gil even? We won't mind if it lets Gils evil side out.

Nor Cal Alt Meeting Spots
The IHOP on Northgate sounds good. I do not know if Quentin or I can go yet. I have to arrange for someone to stay with my wife.
It would be fun to get together more often in the Sac area. There are a couple of options. There is the Sudwerks off Mace Blvd in Davis, German food and micro brews. Also there is a once a month meeting in Sac for European cars called Eurosunday. They meet on the last Sunday of the month at the Pavillions Restaurant on Fair Oaks Blvd. I have not attended one yet so do not know much about the people. I did talk to one of the organizers and he said Opels were rarely seen at the meet. EuroSunday.net A monthly gathering of car enthusiasts. I need to get my seat back fixed as it seems to have slipped a couple of cogs and is now semi-reclined. Does anyone know how to fix the rachet mechanism. Terry in Placerville |

Euro sunday
BananAlbum
Euro Sunday is a great event. More geared towards the high end cars (originally a Ferrari only gathering), but it's something for everybody - lots of down to earth BMW guys. I have been there many times (mostly with my BMW 2002), but they also took some pictures of Opelwasp's and my GT (see link). We have been the only Opels ever I think. Very excited about the April run ... Dieter |

NorCal Fun Run Apr 26, 2008
It looks like I should be able to make it. I got my seat back repaired. It was a broken weld so I swaped seat back frames with another one. There are different seat backs (years?) as I had to drill out the hole for the shoulder screw hole in the replacement. I an not sure which car the replacement came out of. How many are planning to show up?
I see you are planning to via Salmon Falls again. Terry in Placerville (closer to Coloma, Lotus & Rescue than Placerville) |

Alternate Route?
I haven't worked out the contact point yet. IHOP is a lot of back tracking for me. I could meet you at Pilot Hill like last year. I just found out my brothe is going to be working a Travis for two weeks. He is showing up here Saturday night (26th) and Sunday. He is working all day Saturday so I could not talk him into riding along.
There is an alternate route that would allow you to miss El Dorado Hills. Continue SE on 49 from Pilot Hill to the South Fork of the American River at Coloma. Just past the bridge is Lotus Rd. Right on Lotus and follow that south for 14 mi (becomes N. Shingle Rd at Green Valley Rd) to Shingle Springs. Cross over US50, then land immediate left on Mother Lode RD to the El Dorado "Y" (right fork) and follow that into El Dorado. Turn right on CA49 in the center of El Dorado. This takes you through the Consumes River Gorge and into Plymouth. You miss the twists in Salmon Falls Rd but also all of El Dorado Hills and the flat grass land down to Latrobe. The added attraction is the Cosumnes River Gorge and more foothill scenery. The roads are good and relatively fast and have enough curves. I live not far from the intersection of Lotus Rd and Gold Hill/Luneman Rd. |

Pilot Hill sounds good. PM me your cell phone so I can call you when we get close, or leave IHOP.

TrayTod,
Was that you sitting out along Route 49 last year in the red GT, in the direct sun, waiting for an hour or so for us to come by? Man, you have got to find a shaded spot this year. Dieter - looking forward to seeing you and your cool GT again. Could have sworn I've seen your BMW 2002 around the Bay Area twice this year. Have you been down here? Or is there another freshly painted tan 2002 running around? |

He sold his 2002. He has a shorter commute now(2 miles) and the BMW wasn't taking it well. He plans to put in a bigger motor in the gt and a stick with the proceeds from the BMW. Fair trade don't ya think.

Yep, that was me at the fire Pilot Hill fire Station. I got my tan for the whole summer. Hopefully we will time it better this year. Do we know how many cars are planning to show? Quentin will not be able to make it again this year. He is looking for a good Manta in the Bay area. Does anyone know of one available? His GT needs to come off the road so he can collect some collision insurance.
I saw the orange and black Kadet Rallye both Sunday and this morning. Sunday was on North Shingle Rd and this morning was in Cameron Park. I should have turned around and chased him down but I was late for work. Terry |
