oh well so much for meeting up you live long long ways away from me. Its only about a 25 mile drive for me. Anyways maybe kshe will allow us to all park by each other even if we arrive at differant times. but if you want to call before or when you arrive there you can call me at 636-544-4281. If i dont pick up leave a voicemail.
I just put a new weber on about 75 miles and its great. So hopefull no problems on the way there. This is gonna be the longest road trip so far for the opel! |

opeljohn-
opelbits here, the guy with the REALLY thrashed GT from the last Route 66. It would be cool if you can come down. I don't know if I will make the show or not, but if I can make, and IF Al will bring his, we could have a mini meet of the rough GT's plus yours. Guaranteed to annoy the other show participants! Allowing for the nationals in Charlotte, are there plans for a get together at Route 66 this year? At the rate we are going, we might be able to get almost 5 cars from St Louis. |

Not any more man I just happen to take a look at the engine and it already had one, I guess the previous owner had plans to install AC. But I can't wait to install the trunk unit I bought from Classic Air. I may need some help making the brackets for the compressor, are you up for it?

That's cool.
Actually, I've already been contemplating the compressor brackets. We could make some 1/4" or 3/8" MDF patterns, then copy that in aluminum. If it is all bolted and jigged together, then it would be pretty simple to have tig welded. I have a couple motors on engine stands to use to mock it up. I think aluminum would be nice, since it could be polished up or bead blasted. mush easier to work than steel, so it can be made to look purty with less work. Oh, I just had a thought. The pulley should have the smaller diameter groove towards the radiator. If it doesn't, then it is likely a 69-ish smog pump pulley. |

I haven't heard from Joe M., yet, so I don't know.
As for five cars, I meant for the Route 66 show in Springfield in Sept. It could be a doable goal. Need to get Bruce, Calvin, and Jason on board, I'm sure Al will be up for it, I just need to get back to his car. Then again, I have another commitment right at the end of Sept. beginning of Oct. that I can't/won't get out of. I hope they don't conflict. |

Tomorrow if i'm in the mood im gonna take my car up to autozone and have them test my altenator its been acting up again. I wanna make sure its my connections and nothing more than that.

Yes there is going to be a Route 66 Fest this year. Dates are Sept 26-28. Been meaning to start a thread on it but there has been a change in the management of the event and I'm not sure what that will mean to our group. I will call you guys sunday when I get close to see if we can hook up. John |

Hey John-
That's cool. Keep in touch with Lewis on Sunday. He has my number. I might be 90 miles west on Sunday. It won't be a total loss, though, as it involves two Mantas, one a Rally. |

My overland safari to the scrap metal veldt has been cancelled. It looks like I will be at the show.
I guess I need to print up some flyers for our cars, eh? Something alonmg the lines of: "Look, but don't touch...unless you recently had a tetanus shot" |

Bruce/Jason-
At this rate we will have an actual 3 cars, 4 if Opel John makes it down. Joe M. may attend, but sans car (not even the Maserati...). It would be cool if you guys can show up. I have to talk to Calvin and see what he is doing, but if everyone could show, that would be eight Opel owners in one place. Nothing like this has occurred in St. Louis since....uh....uhh....what year did all the planets line up? Was that before or after "Live-Aid"? Afterwards, maybe Al will let us come over to his house and we can throw rocks at the trains. Anybody got Girards number? |

Is that a serious thing about throwing rocks at trains or not? Can't really tell. But Tony dad wants to take me and show me his work after the show maybe you wanna tag along? |

Heh-heh-heh! Lewis, with as much communication as we have had, you can't tell if I'm joking about the rock throwing! being the smart-ass I am, I think I'll take that as something of a compliment.
We'll have to see how the day goes, but that might be cool. Bruce- Thanks for Gerards info. Too bad you can't make it. It's not good to leave that car in the garage so much. Next thing you know, it will be covered in boxes that say things like "Christmas Decorations", "Grandma's Photo Albums", and "Important Papers-July, 2015". |

You never know what you are capable of until you have spent the whole day in the hot summer sun without a hat. A good brain boiling can float some fantasically stupid ideas to the top...and they make sense.

What do you mean? All cars are time machines, you can travel into the future one second at a time.
My concern is that unlike the Delorean, which had to get to 88mph before it could get to the year 2015, the GT may get to that year without moving at all.... |

Today adjust the lifters and they quieted down a little. Adjusted carb to 900-1000 rpms so my altenator would charge a bit more.(it worked) Might try to put those hoses back on tomorrow morning but its still undecided. Finished doing all last minute checks and I think its gonna be a nice day for the opel tomorrow.
Tony what time do you plan on leaving tomorrow? |
