Hey folks just wanted to let you I was not ignoring you. I got the shirt orders off the three previous posts and yes Sawdust I do plan on getting window decals again this year. Any others who have requested Shirts please check your post and make sure you gave me all the info I need , such as size,color,and type I.E. Long sleeve, Short Sleeve, Or Crew Neck Sweatshirt. I will need to put the order in by next Tuesday the 9th. This thing with the Hotel is enough to make me want to choke someone. Thanks to Mark and all you who have remade your reservations. I am ready to head out in the morning to the Nationals so I will probably be offline til Tuesday. If this were anything but the Opel Nationals My happy butt would be parked at home this week. And thanks for all your kind thoughts for my Mother, She continues to hang in there.

I am still planning on attending the Route 66 show with my son, Taylor and will be contacting the Route 66 hotel tomorrow to re-reserve my room for Saturday night. I'm sorry I didn't put my shirt order in sooner, but I would like to have a white extra large shirt. Thanks and take care.

Well it is now three weeks until the event. Got off the phone this afternoon to the hotel. If you made reservations before the computer meltdown they know nothing about you. I am going to look at the list of folks they have with our group the next day or two and see if I can spot anyone missing. They also let me know they were having a pool party Friday night with refreshments for sale and a local Radio station doing live broadcasts from there. They would like for us to stay there instead of doing the Maverick Steakhouse and Cruise. I have no real problem with either idea, but if we go to the Steakhouse we should leave between 4:30 and 5:00 pm to be sure and get dinner and a spot in the lineup. I will be posting more in the next few days. I will not start a shirt thread this year so if you want one send a private message to me with all info. With so many shirts out there I am not sure if we will do them after this year.

I registered for the show online a few weeks ago and expected to receive a package with everything I needed in the mail. I haven't gotten anything in the mail but I did receive the following email from the event organizer:

CREDENTIAL PICKUP

Credentials can be picked up at the Registration Trailer, which will be located on Vine Street between 6th and 7th streets, starting Thursday, September 25 at 2pm. Please have your valid driver's license and insurance information with you when you pick up your credentials and sign the liability waiver. Both pre-registered and on-site registrants pick up their credentials at the Registration Trailer.

Registration credentials include a HANGING MIRROR CLING that has your FREE T-SHIRT COUPON ATTACHED. You will pick up your free t-shirt at the event t-shirt trailer (which is located by the main stage, see the map that will be included in your goodie bag) not at registration, using your mirror cling coupon.

I'm not sure I like the idea of having to go downtown ahead of the show to pick up my credentials but maybe it'll greatly reduce the traffic jam into downtown Sat AM. Still, it would make more sense if they had sent the credentials in the mail for those of us who pre-registered.

Hopefully I can arrive early enough on Fri to pick up my package before dinner so I'll be ready for the cruise (assuming we decide to go instead of staying for the hotel's event).

I seem to recall the event being from like 8AM until 5PM

Show hours and our hours are not the same. That is why we try and park near an exit. We as a group skip out and go eat around 5:00 pm on Saturday. As a matter of fact I need to get a head count on how many will be having dinner with us on Saturday so I know what to do about Restaurant. If we have only a small group I think we can go to D'arcys Pint and fit in with the regular crowd. If we have a bigger group I can look at the room we had last year at Top Cats Chill & Grill, so let me know soon folks. This is the first I have heard of the (New) registration process. I will see what I can find out tomorrow. The Hotel is trying to make amends with us over the Reservation fiasco. They are still taking reservations up til the 19th of Sept. for us, after that the block of rooms will be released. They are going to keep a few open in case some of our folks have not rebooked. They may open the Hotel Restaurant early Saturday if we have enough demand?

Sat. am. But if the event doesn't start untill 11am Sat, I won't be in a great hurry to eat breakfast. Can you find out what the normal sat an hours are for the restaurant?

Question: Do we have to go thru this registration hassle on Friday when we get down there or do it as we enter the show area Saturday morning?

Ok it is now about 2 weeks out and this may be a good time to go back over everything. On Friday Sept. 26th I hope to be at the Hotel by at least 4:30 pm. If any of us want to go to eat at the Steakhouse and participate in the evening cruise we need to leave hotel by 5:00 pm or so. There will be activitys at the Hotel that evening and food for purchase there. I will try and have the Hospitality room open early for those who wish to chill out and talk. This is always a chance to catch up with old friends. Saturday is always our main day. I know there have been some questions about times and such so here is how I think we will do things that day. I intend to be at the Hotel by about 7:00 am that morning. The event says it goes from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm but those times are for the Public. I think we need to leave the Hotel as a group by 8:00 am to get ourselves in and parked at our area before the crowds start to show up. It seems this year even those who have pre-registered will need to stop and pick up their credentials along the way. Not a big problem as this is on our way up 6th street. Those who are able can pick those up friday if they want. As in past years those who are not registered will need to do so farther up the road. You have to do about the same thing at Carlisle before you go to the showfield. I am working on getting us parked in the same place as last year in front on the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library on No. 6th Street. If you come late just let the folks at the gate know you want to be with us and they will steer you our way. Once we are set up everyone is on their own until about 3:30 pm when we will all get together and do our own Awards and such. The Event has an Opel Class for their Awards which are given out on Sunday. Even though the event goes on til 9:00 pm we will skip out for dinner about 5:00 pm. After dinner is of course another time to gather at the Hospitality room at the Hotel. A lot of folks need to head home on sunday so we always have a smaller group that day. Also the need to get there early is not as great. I think if we leave the Hotel by 9:30 am we should be fine. Lets all hope for good weather. If you need a Room this is your last week to get it reserved. If you think you are going to make a one day run on Saturday let us know so we can hold some room in our parking area. This is probably one of your best chances to get with other Opelers in the Midwest. Any Questions contact me here or at 217-523-7018.
