2008 Route 66 Mother Road Festival Sept. 26-28

Hello All
Been meaning to post on this for some time now but a couple of things have held me up. First of all I wanted to let the plans for a couple other events develop first. The big problem has been that a new promotional company has taken control of the event and I have not been able to get a lot of info on how that will effect our group. The guy I was dealing with is no longer part of the event so I am still not sure if we will get last years spot or even our old spot. We may also not get awards from the event as in the past. Nothing we can not overcome but a bit of a pain for right now. Anyway what I need right now is to try and get a feeling for how many of you may attend. I know the National Event in Charlotte is very close to the same time and a lot of folks may not be able to attend both. I would advise anyone who can to make the National Event, but if that is not possible or if you can do both please come to Springfield IL the last weekend in Sept. I need to talk to a Hotel about our group but I will need a rough idea on the number of rooms. The Route 66 Hotel was a bit of a problem last year but all in all okay. The rest of the event I think can go like last year. Friday dinner at Maverick Steakhouse and Saturday at Top Cats if it looks like we have a large group. Maybe D'arcy's pint if it's a smaller group. So for right now let me know how many rooms to ask for and then I will post more info as I get it.

John, I'm hoping to make it to Springfied as well as going to Charlotte. I don't care about awards. I come to hang out with my fellow Opelers. Although I would hope that the new organizers would still appreciate having the Opel group participate.

Other than the AC quitting in my room at the Route 66 last year I have no real complaints against the place. It's certainly a very convenient location. The $66 room rate was nice too. Just don't eat dinner there!

My grandfather told me long ago that gas is the cheapest thing you can buy for a car. Besides, I'm only spending my children's inheritance

Count me in. The Rt 66 Motel works for me but I'm not picky.
I don't care if we have awards either. I just like talking "Opel Shop" with
other Opelers and really enjoyed the whole car show last year.

I'm in, too. Wouldn't miss it! Each of the 4 years I've been there has been just awesome, and I'm flexible with hotel, restaurant, etc. You and Connie always put together a fine time.

I seem to recall 28 total different Opels over two days. May have been 26.

Running a little late this year but did finally get by the Route 66 Hotel today. I had them reserve 20 rooms for our group. As with last year we need someone to book the Executive suite for us to get the hospitality room attached to it. Room price this year is $66.00 per night with the same price available the Thursday before the event and the Sunday after.The cost of the Executive Suite will be more. You will need to ask for the rate for the Opel Motorsport Club. If we can book these up early we can maybe get a few more rooms if needed. Contact info is,

I am going to try and be there again, Sorry you had to miss the colfax show, of course you would have to had waterwings LOL. Maybe in the middle of winter would be good!!!! I have heat as well as air.

Got a call from Vickie Gage tonight about room reservation problem. Has anyone else tried to book a room yet? I will try and contact Hotel tomorrow. Also is there any interest in a t-shirt this year?

I am also planning to go to the Route 66 car show this year AND driving my Opel this time if I get some things fixed on it in time. I have not made reservations yet, but will soon. I may be taking my son, Taylor, with me this time. He really enjoys car shows as much as I do. I might even let him do alittle of the driving.

$66/night single. She had the OMC info.
