2008 OctOpel Fest
So, let's begin by getting an idea of how many people would like to attend the meet. I know fuel prices are high and they may affect some members decision on whether to come or not and I'd like to see if there's even enough interest to hold a meet or not. Also, please let me know if any certain weekends would not work for any of you so I can settle on a date. Please reply to this thread with your intentions and we'll progress from there. After we determine interest, we'll move on to topics such as: Food and drink items Cruise or no cruise Beer selection Accomodations Etc. Lynn and I enjoy hosting this event very much and we hope there's enough interest to have one again this year. Looking forward to your input. Duane

Looking forward for another meet at the Foley Garage. Any weekend but October 18th (Michigan game) is good for me, I can't miss two home games in one season (Opel National).

Hey, my birthday, too! Tell Adam all great people are born on October 25th!
I believe, from Duane and my discussion, he was trying to stay away from the 25th anyway since our Ohio/Western PA group is meeting on that date and some Opelers attend both events. I'll add a shameless advertisement for our meet, in case any of you want to make the trip. This year it will be hosted by Thomas and Amy Kahlert in Springfield, OH on October 25th. Vickie

I received a PM from Vickie saying that the 25th is no longer the date for their meet, so it is available if that's when people want to meet here. Does anyone have anymore input? Dave can't make the 18th, so it still leaves the weekends of 4&5, 11&12 and 25&26. Do you prefer earlier in the month to try for warmer weather? Let's settle on a date so Vickie can plan their gathering.
Duane

How convenient, couldn't ask for any better than that. So, that leaves the first and second weekends open, anyone else?

The 25th is not good for me. Another nieces B-day party.
Oct 11-12 would be best for me but the 4-5 weekend is OK. The RT 66 event is the weekend before & I will probably go to Chicago from there for a few days to visit relatives. ~ Tom |

I think the earlier dates in the month would probably get us a little warmer weather. Shouldn't really matter though because it was pretty toasty last year near the fire!

Considering that the Route 66 meet is the week before the 4/5 as Tom mentioned, how about we settle on the 11/12th? That will allow people some recovery time between meets. All in favor?

I'm currently available that weekend and will encourage Mitch Manta and the new guy from New Jersey to come as well. Duane's events are classics.

Just wanted to see if we were still good for the weekend of October 11/12. Trying to justify all of these golf & Opel excursions to the other half!!!!!!

Yes, we're still on 10/11&12 and it's coming quick. We should probably start thinking about food and beverages. Any input?

Dave,
You are the desert man! Those are always big favorites among everyone. Is there a preference of which brands of beer everyone wants? Duane

We were planning to come, but will not work out this year. My parents are taking us to an overnight, dinner theater performance for my birthday, and, of course, that is the only weekend available. We are still going to make it out there one of these times. Vickie & Allen
