I would love to show with my Opel being a hour and half drive, but im fearing that im going to have to tare my Opel completely down to its frame and chassy. due to having to rebuild the engine and find Penelope's silly oil leak that no one one earth can seem to find out where its coming from, and its driving me insane. i also have to replace the rotors and every thing that deals with the wheels (completely broke off a lug nut so dont ask me how im trying to figure that out my self
). my charging system also isnt wanting to work ive gone through about 2 alts, 3 volt regs, 3 battery's, and 3 starters. talk about annoying to replace over and over and over. we've (i and my husband ) have checked all wiring to make sure its all good and no grounds and well we cant find any thing what so ever. but i would love to bring my lil girl to the show. so hopefully we can figure this out before july it would sure make me happier than a one armed paper hanger. but yea but Im trying my best the only thing now to do is to take her to a shop and get her tested for random lil things we cant figure out on our own and then bring her home and fix em... wells take cares hope to be there and see you all there sure would be nice to know more opelers and know that im not the only one having stillest lil problems.

For those of you coming to the gathering of the Opels in Tacoma here is some hotel information. The La Quinta Inn is an easy on – easy off I-5 in Tacoma and a short 6 miles from Kelly’s Café.
La Quinta Inn & Suites Lakewood - Washington Hotels The web site has room and reservation information. This is a new hotel open for about a year and a Denny’s next door. If you need more info or if you require something a little better priced let me know and I will see what is reasonably close and affordable. Cruz cruz (at) cruzin-i-5.com

Tacoma's 2008 Gathering of Opels
Everyone "Cruz" has been kind enough to check out the Lodging in our area...we decided that the La Quinta Inn AND Suites -Lakewood, will be the best for those who need lodging. It is only 6 miles from Kelley's Cafe in Spanaway, Wa. We would advise those to please make reservations early to assure a room. The web-site is printed below with the necessary info. If you do need more help please contact us.

Tacoma's Gathering Of OPELS --Up date
Our Gathering plans have been made and the Flyers of the Event are ready to be mailed..do we have your address? If not, PM us at this site. We have planned a whole weekend of fun, interesting things to do. We will begin our
Gathering on Friday the 18th of July at 1:00 with a tour of the "Harold LeMay" car Museum. This is probably the largest private car collection in the World!!!! The Cost will be $10.00 per person. We plan on going to a local restaurant for dinner after the tour. For the main event Saturday the 19th at 11:00 A.M. We are Gathering at "Kelley's Kafe" 16302 Pacific Ave. Spanaway,Wa. At the Gathering, we will have Guest Gil Wesson from OPEL GT SOURCEand several others to offer their knowledge of the Opel. The day's Gathering will end with the presenting of Awards and Door Prizes. WE have planned a great get- together dinner following at 6:00, at "The Ram" restaurant, located on the beautiful Waterfront of Ruston Way. Doesn't this all really sound like fun? WE hope so. If anyone needs help in lodging, we have chosen the Lakewood LaQuinta located just off I-5 (EXIT # 125) on the corner of Bridgeport Way and Pacific Highway. "Cruz" has been kind enough to follow up on this for Lodging, Those interested, can check for the needed information on his reply in this site. We hope to have a great time this year, so please come and join us for a weekend of Opel friendship and fun. Feel free to e-mail for more information. Hope to see you with or without your Opel. West coast gt, what area on the west coast are you coming from, and what day are you leaving to go up to tacoma, because I am coming from the Sanfernado valley area, and it would be pretty cool to go in a convoy with another opeler.

I will be leaving the San Francisco Bay Area Thursday, July 17, approx 8am.
The route north will be 80 east, to 505 north, to interstate 5 north to Tacoma. I figure I'll get in approx 8 hours of driving by 7pm, stopping in the Salem Oregon area for the night. Friday will be approx 2 1/2 hrs driving, arriving in time to tour the LeMay Automotive Museum. __________________ Return trip will be south to Medford, then southwest to the California coast, camping in Jeremiah Smith Redwoods State Park Sunday night. Then continue south along 101 arriving at the Bay Area Monday late afternoon. __________________ I typically drive interstates between 65 and 70 mph and stop for 15-20 minutes every couple of hours. |

I've posted a list of components for the electric fan upgrade on the “Electric Rad Fan Control” thread. It seemed more appropriate than this one. I’ll try to post some photos when it’s complete, and will certainly let you know how it performed on the trip north to the Tacoma Gathering. We should encounter high temperatures in the Central Valley, and will probably need the cooling as we climb the mountain range into Southern Oregon. If interested in seeing the install, I’ll pop the hood when most people are looking elsewhere. My work isn’t particularly pretty, or reliable for that matter. But it will give you an idea to start from. Keith |

Thanks west coast gt, there was some good info there. Since this is my first time up through washington and oregon i was going to take a week and look at all of the sites on the way up. Seeing as how you live in the SF bay area, which is one of my stops, do you know of any places out there were I can just sleep and shower for cheap(I am doing this on a very limited budget as I am A full time college student with only a part time job). If you do know of somwhere like that, that is clost to the San Francisco attractions could you please let me know thanks.
