  1. How many days are you thinking of here in the Bay Area?
  2. Is it just you or will you have a traveling companion?
  3. Are you more intersted in the City itself, or the surrounding area and outdoor sights/sounds?

To answer your questions west coast, "How many days are you thinking of here in the Bay Area?
Is it just you or will you have a traveling companion?
Are you more intersted in the City itself, or the surrounding area and outdoor sights/sounds? "

I was thinking of staying one night, and just sleeping cuz i was going to explore the city durring the day, and then the surrounding area the next day. I am going to have my dad as a traveling companion becaus he says that i cant go alone, but he and I can share a single room I mean he is my dad, and I dont mind sleeping on the floor in a room. So do you know of anywhere that I cant stay for cheap for one night in that area?
Thanks
Sterling

Sterling,
I was trying to figure a way to offer you and your dad a room here, but unfortunately my wife has family arriving for a visit and our spare rooms will be filled.

Check out the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel. My daughter and her friends stayed there one weekend. And I booked several private rooms there last year to conduct several days of department training. Because it's a hostel it's really quite reasonably priced, and you cannot beat the setting. Located just south of Half Moon Bay you'll be approx 30-40 minutes south of San Francisco. Its a beautiful coastline and with the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company just up the room you may not make it into the city. The brew pub always has pretty women and cool sports cars to look at. The food is excellent. The view from the deck is great. Bring a wind breaker.
A private room starts at $60, but the dorm is $20-$22 for each of you.

There is another great hostel north near Crescent City in the Redwoods National Park. This one looks pretty cool; an old farmhouse located where the redwoods meets the ocean. It sets one park land and is isolated. I'll try to attach photos.

Northern California Opel Group: What say we set up a mid-week mid-fall multi-day road trip to stay at these two hostels and experience something really unusual?
Save some vacation time - bring a spouse or girlfriend.

Hello and Thanks

We just want to say "Thank You" for all the publicity you have given to the folks here in Tacoma/Lakewood on Opel GT.Com! Yes, the drive either up here or down here is absolutely beautiful. And the weather, at this time, can't be beat. Cool, partly cloudy and AHHHH the air is so fresh. Makes
us so glad that we chose Washington State to retire! Enjoy your trip, and drive safely.

MawandPawOpel,
Please include RoyGT and myself (Keith) in your head count for:
  • LeMay Tour,
  • Carrs Restaurant,
  • Kelly's Kafe,
  • Harbor Lights Restaurant

Got my La Quinta reservations confirmed!
RoyGT and I will be car pooling to the Gathering. ("Gathering" brings to mind Celtic instrumental music, perhaps something from Loreena McKennitt.)
Coming home to the Bay Area we have camp site reservations at Del Norte Redwoods State Park just south of Crescent City.

I'm rather stoked about this trip and can't wait.
Meanwhile, the upgrades to the GT's charging & cooling systems are almost complete and bugs are being ironed out even as you read this post. Hope to complete the job, otherwise we'll be cruising up in the comfort (but not style) of a non-Opel.

MawandPawOpel - thanks for the work you've put in making this event happen; not only this year but all the previous years. Looking forward to meeting you nice folks.

Just took the GT out for a short shake-down. It's running fine. Alternator is alternating. Lights are lighting. Looks like I'll be bringing an Opel.

Sterling,
Are you up here in the Bay Area yet?
GTRoy and myself are pulling out of Martinez approx 8:00 Thursday morning.
Let me know if you want to meet up for the trip north.
Our schedule changed,; we're traveling:
  1. East on Interstate 80
  2. North on 505
  3. North on 5
  4. Thursday Night will be in Salem, OR. We do not have room reservations there.
  5. Friday noon at the LeMay Auto Museum.
    RETURN TRIP
  6. South to Medford.
  7. Southwest to Crescent City. We have a campsite reserved in Del Norte Redwoods Park which can accommodate another vehicle and another tent. You are welcome to join us. No cost to you - but you'll need your own sleeping bags or bedrolls. We're planning on restaurant meals so we won't have cooking gear with us other than a small backpacking stove to brew coffee. Or just do it like we did fighting forest fires (college days) and like I sometimes do during an extended Search & Rescue mission - just stretch out on the ground.
Private Message me if you wish to caravan part, or all, of the trip.
Whether we see you or not - have a good trip. And we'll meet in Tacoma.

I'll be there with my daughter. Our Opel isn't running so, we'll be bringing our Porsche 928......at least it's a German car. I let my daughter decide if we would bring the 928 or our minivan...she picked the 928.....smart kid.
