Tacoma, Wa. Opel Show
This year was a great turn out at the Tacoma Washington "Gathering of Opels"
Lots of familiar faces and a couple new. There were cars from Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and California. Gill from "Opel GT Source" of California was there with new products and lots of good information. Thanks John for organizing the Northwests largest gathering of Opels. I was there clicking away with my camera ... Check out the photos 2008 Opel Car Show Last edited by Crusher; 07-20-2008 at 09:36 PM. Reason: Correction |

Oh, how I wish I could have been there! But, I'm determined to drive my '73 GT up there from Oregon the first time I go, and this will have to wait for the suspension bushings to be replaced (in process). Maybe next year
.Those were some great pictures, Steve. BTW, who's Manta was that w/ the nice centerline racing style rims (brushed aluminum, riveted). I've wanted those or some slotted aluminum wheels since I bought my car. Those wheels are nice! I'd like to know where they're from, and if they're still available. Randy |

1st - Thank you to the organizers that made this event happen. It was great and I hope to return next year, perhaps with my wife.
2nd - There's something about wives of guys that drive old Opels. I fell in love with everyone of them (wives, not the old guys) that attended this year. 3rd - I'm blown away with the level of work & customizing that I saw. Excellent work. 4th - Final Trip Stats: Total Miles - 1,6965th - Break Downs - Two: a. Alternator Upper Bracket - lost the nut & 2 isolator washers. Although the long bolt dropped out, it hung onto the block's oil pan flange and we recovered it. I'm guessing it stuck to the grease.GT Roy rode up with me and I'm glad he was along as he provided valuable assistance in fixing the breakdowns. He also provided navigation and only once or twice forgot his duties. But he's an easy person to travel with and adds to the trip's enjoyment. He's a good guy. Our return trip was more enjoyable than the trip north. We left Interstate 5 at Grant's Pass, Oregon, and cut southwest on highway 199. This is a very scenic sports car route. We camped in Del Norte Redwoods, and continued south on highway 101 through mist & fog enshrouded forest and mountains. Rather than face the perpetual Santa Rosa stop-and-go traffic and the Bay Area commute we took highway 128 through the Alexander and Napa valleys. Most scenic, and again, good sports car roads. |

Starting with Post#6 the idea of the nationals in Tacoma was thrown into the ring. I believe that MawandPaw wanted to wait for their 2008 tacoma show to be over before they dove in to the 2009 show. I would again give them the chance to run with it.
