2009 Spring AutoFair!
The Spring AutoFair is the bigger of the two AutoFair's held each year. A great show to kickoff the new summer show season! As usual, there will be BBQ on Friday night at my house and we will go to Quaker Steak and Lube on Saturday night after the show. ![]() Gas is cheap now so make plans to attend.

Wish Lowes was closer. I had a great time last year for the Opel Nationals,
but the drive is........well a very, very long one from central IA. ![]() What a great location for car shows though! Ya'all have a great time!

I guess one of the commitments is from me. I will be there - one person, one Opel.

Just a "Bump" to get this back on the page again! If anyone is interested in coming to the Spring AutoFair in April, let me know!
As usual, I will be having a BBQ at my house on Friday evening, the night before the Saturday show. 12 hours of slow cooked pork BBQ over hickory wood should be enough to get you here!

Another Bump to the top! Only about 4 weeks to go before the 2009 show season begins at Lowe's Motor Speedway for the 2009 Spring AutoFair! If you are interested in making the show, let me know as soon as possible!

Anyone attending the AutoFair needing Opel parts, it looks like I'll be in my truck again making deliveries. The sooner you put your orders in the better the chance that I can come up with the parts.
On that note I'm looking for a part from "OldOpelGuy". Stephen, I hope you've had a chance to look for an Ascona back glass for me. Harold |

AutoFair Update
I just wanted to give you an update on our parking arraignments for the 2009 Spring AutoFair on Saturday, April 4th. We are assigned to the infield, on the grass, next to pit road. So, once again, we are going to have a great spot to show off our cars! Get them all washed up and pretty for the show!
The gates to the racetrack open at 6:30 AM but I think we can probably stick to our usual schedule of meeting at TGI Friday's by 6:45 AM and then leaving there and go over to the track at 7 AM together. As usual, they want everybody in place by 7:30 AM because the gates to the public open at 8 AM. There is one thing that the AutoFair people have asked all car clubs and that is please stay longer than pulling out early. The people who pay to get in come to see car clubs as well as the vendors so the longer we can stay, the better. They said that they know some people just have to leave early but if most of us could stay longer on Saturday, that would help the show. They have even asked the vendors to do the same thing. I will give out the passes and windshield sticker when we meet on Saturday morning at the restaurant. If you would rather for me send the map, passes and windshield sticker to you in the mail, just let me know and I will get it out to you. As usual, Hotel Ooooner will host a "party" Friday evening with Baby Back Ribs and Pork BBQ served! You will also be more than welcome to find a place on the floor, couch, recliners, etc., Friday night to help save you a hotel room. There are 56 car clubs slated to be at the AutoFair. Some of the car clubs have over 200 cars. The "Best Of Show" winner of each club will get to compete for the overall "Best In Show" award on Sunday! I found out that there is a waiting list of car clubs wanting to show off their clubs at the AutoFair but because of the space, they have to wait until another car club stops coming. This is a great event so come and enjoy! Looking forward to seeing everyone again! Hope you can make it!

The color is "RASPBERRY" and I'm sticking to it!
![]() As of Saturday, it looked like we couldn't make it. However, it seems to be a situation that is changing daily. If Allen doesn't have to go down and drive his parents back home, there is an off chance we could make it. So, Roy, save us a little space on your floor...... just in case a last minute trip down becomes possible. We'd sure hate to pass up that BBQ! Vickie & Allen

Any Opel parts requests for me or anyone else need to be soon. I will be leaving the Sunday before the AutoFair. If it's anything I'll have to pull I probably need to know by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. This is weather dependent also, pulling parts in the cold and rain puts the cost beyond most Opeler's budgets.

Meeting at TGI Friday's on Saturday morning around 6:30 to 6:45 is what we usually do but we did something different for the Nationals last September....
Hummmmm... Maybe Baby Dolls is a better place to meet! Meet there Friday evening then just go from there over to the race track Saturday morning! ![]()

Thanks for the reminder, Gary. For some reason, this is how it is in my mind now, though.
