your welcome to toss your stuff in my room until we get back to the motel in the afternoon. Keep in mind the group will probably stop to eat on the way from the show to the motel. PM me and I'll give you my cell so you can locate me Sat. AM if you can't find me in the lot.

Back on line again
Hey John,
count me in for the festival and a pair of shirts. I am not sure which Opel I will have, but I will make it! While my computer was down I had more time to work on the opels. Hopefully, now that I am on a roll, I will be able to do both! Gerry

Sorry not to have posted sooner. I saw Broszzy's post about rooms and Mark's answer but have yet to get by the hotel and see where we are at with reservations. I suspect we are okay but I also want to make sure we get someone in the room next to the hospitality room. That would also solve Willis's issue with somewhere to stash his stuff til checkin. I will have to get back about the time we will head downtown Saturday morning. My info pact is at the office. I tried to register online and had the info for that at home so I'm not to organized right now. Looks like we will have enough shirts for at least a min. order so I'll need to get on that also. Don't want to have too many color choice's so I am thinking maybe this year Yellow or Black? Kind of looking at condensing the front logo to just the right side and adding a Pocket. I need someplace for my glasses.

I just booked my room for Sat the 26th. The girl I talked to said she did not see any rooms seat back for the Opel club. She did say there is a 25 room block set back for the 25th and 26th but the computer would not tell her who they were for. So I have a room but I am not sure where it is. At least I got the right hotel. John, you might want to give them a call.

Went by the hotel a little bit ago to see if I could figure out what was up with the rooms. Seems we get into this every year about the time folks start trying to reserve rooms. I would say problem is locally owned motel with high turnover in help. I have dealt with different people almost every time I go in. If it were not for the fact they have a good location for us plus decent rates and a room to meet in at night I would have to go else where. Bottom line is I don't know where the disconnect between the office I book these in and the front desk is but it is supposed to be fixed now. The key here seems to be you must have them type in the name OPEL, as in Opel Motorsports Club. I also got a list of those who have been assigned to our group. So far we have Arthur Jackson, Mark Paar, Paul Tipton, Pat Brosnan, Rose Park. If you have booked a room and your name is not one of these people then call them back and have them put you with our group. So far we should be okay with open rooms. We have the Hospitality room for Friday and Saturday night so if Willis or others need to I think they can stow their stuff there. Spent a little time going over the t-shirt design with the folks at the printing co. Should have something to show on that soon. Price should be around same as last years. It will be interesting to see how the collector car auction this year goes.

International Route 66 Mother Road Festival Be sure you tell them you are entering with the Opel Club so you will be included in the Opel specific award competition and will be parked with the rest of us. For the entry fee, in the past we got what is typical for these sort of larger events. In no particular order, A nice Rt 66 Car event tee shirt, an entry for your car, and a goody bag with some worthwhile stuff usually. Plus we won't shun you as an outsider at our Opel group activities Just kidding about that last comment. The items above were what I got for the Rt66 shows I've attended, but it's not a given this year. Hope you can make it.

Looks like I won't be joining you this year.
![]() Anyone who is able should consider getiing their "kicks on Rt. 66" This is usually the largest gathering of Opelers in the Midwest. John and Connie are excellent hosts, and downtown Springfield is a great setting. Hoping to be there next year... Ron in Indy |

Okay we are getting to be about a month away from the event and I guess it's time to get serious. I saw the earlier posts and once again thanks to Mark for getting info out to folks. Ron sorry to hear you will not be able to make it, you and your GT are always a great addition to any event. I have been trying to take care of some other stuff. I will have decals for the first 20 Opels and they will be Red this year. I have gotten the final on the shirt design and will try and add it to this post. My intention is to have them printed on Black shirts and Orange shirts with Pockets. Either short sleeve or long sleeve. If you want one please let me know with a PM stating size, color, and sleeve length. Prices should be about the same as last year, around 22/23 dollars short sleeve and 24/25 long sleeve. I need to get the order in by September 8th. I will be ordering 4 awards for our own presentation Saturday evening, Best GT, Best Manta/Ascona, Best Kadett or Pre-1965, and Longest Drive in Opel. Of course one of the things that sets this apart from other general events is the Opel specific class for the event awards. I have been told these will be picked by a paid judging staff and awarded on the main stage on Sunday afternoon. If you need a room please get them reserved ASAP as I am sure they will release any unreserved rooms a couple of weeks before the event. If the weather is as nice as it was this weekend it will be a really great time.

Just wanted to do a bump and add a couple of things. Thanks to Gordy we will have name tags available for our evening gab fests. Also I may try to do a separate shirt thread but if I do not get that done I wanted to let you all know I need the orders in by Sept. 7th. Also there is an effort out there to get the " Can O Keys" at the event. As I understand how this works if you find a key in the can that works on something you own take it, if you have keys that do not fit anything you have throw them in the can. Also how many think they will eat with us Saturday night at Top Cats? Time is getting short for room reservations!

Had planned on going this year but a recent purchase of another GT will likely scratch my plans. A quick trip to Colorado to bring back a one owner car that was last tagged in Iowa in 96 is what I did this weekend. Car was purchased in Des Moines in 72 and was brought back to its roots (Iowa). Motor hasn't been started in about 12 years so hope that goes alright after some prep. Also, I met a pickup with a GT headed west in Nebraska on I-80 saturday. Hope to be there next year.
