Final Results 09 Fall AutoFair!
On Saturday, we all went over to the show field at Lowe's Motor Speedway for the AutoFair show. We all were in place by 7:30 AM! The weather was great once again, although it did get a little on the warm side during part of the afternoon. The AutoFair people placed us in a fantastic spot right behind the pit road wall. It was great exposure for our Opels! After the awards ceremony, we left and went over to the Quaker Steak and Lube Restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we went back over to Hotel Ooooner and had a few "night caps"! Sunday morning, the outside of my house looked like an Opel Service Department with everybody helping each other fix and repair Opels! A special thanks to Harold Collins for all his help with his knowledge and helping to repair or help tune up some of the Opels! Award winner were: Best In Show: Laurie and Floyd Schwartz 1st Place Stock: Tom Atkins 1st Place Modified: Steve Goines Honorable Mention: Charles Goin Most Unique: Gene Smith Peoples Choice: Tom C. Tom... How do you spell your last name again? ![]() Most Improved: Mike Brooks Here are a few pictures of the award winners at the just completed 2009 Fall AutoFair! Pictures from left to right are: Laurie Schwartz, Tom Atkins, Gene Smith, Tom C. and Steve Goines. More pictures on more posts below...

I would like to add a little to Roy's thread here. First of all, THANK YOU goes out to Roy and Evon for their outstanding hospitality at "Hotel Oooner" Best accommidations around
. The BBQ dinner is top notch, best BBQ you ever sank a fang into. If you walk away hungry, it's YOUR fault But, just adding a few pictures of my own and adding that we had several people stop and chat about " _________ had and Opel back when" (add whatever relative you want) Had several come up and give out info on an Opel or two for sale and one that might be buying an Opel off a member that was there. If you have never been to this, you need to go at least once.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
The strange wheel action can be attributed to what is called the strobe effect. In real life the wheels are turning as fast as they should be when you are traveling 70 mph. However, a camera has a specific frame rate at which it captures video (24, 25, 30, etc) and so does the video player. Humans naturally see about 24 frames per second, which is why movies are there. Any less frames and your mind would not be fooled into thinking what is on the screen is moving. This strobe effect happens when the movement of the wheels and the frame of the camera coincide just enough that the camera takes a photo when the wheel has rotated just into the same position as the last frame. An interesting thing to look at is a video of a car accelerating from a stop (No wheel spin at the start is better). You can get this strobe effect many times as the car acclerates to different speeds. (Every spoke, every other spoke, every third spoke - - - all of these will lok the same). ie, if the 'stationary wheel' happens at 70 mph, it may also happen at 35 or 105. Steve, it's the same principle by which we time our cars using timing lights...
