Euro Auto Festival
I attended the Euro Auto Festival at the BMW Manufacturing plant in South Carolina today with my 73 Opel GT along with Floyd and Laurie Schwartz and their 71 GT. This show was for European cars only and it was well attended by just about every European car made. Cars from Rolls Royce, Morgan's, MG's, Triumphs, Jaguars, Mercedes, BMW's, etc., etc., etc. Well, my little Opel GT walked off with two awards... First Place in the "Specialty Sports" car class and the "Crowd Pleaser" award voted on by the other people who brought their cars to the show. I was proud of our Opel's and humbled at the same time. At a show like this, it really helps us get our name out there and gain more respect.

I'm sorry, I was supposed to go to this show, but, at the last minute I was informed by my boss, that I had to work on Saturday, needless to say I was a bit PO'ed.....

Is this the one? It is a 1922 Morgan 3 wheeler. Really a strange car. The engine is actually outside, in front, of the radiator! The rear brake was on a foot peddle and the front brakes were controlled by a leaver on the steering wheel.

That, believe it or not, is a Lamborghini... It was an older model.... It was parked just two spots up from me.... There was another Lamborghini parked spots on the other side of me and beside Floyd and Laurie's GT. It had a 6.0L V12!

Beautiful car. Very understated for a Lamborghini. Never saw one before, but I don't imagine there are too many buzzing around these parts. I did see a Diablo yesterday on my way to the park in my Corvair. I revved my motor when I caught up to him at a light, and I think he had a good chuckle. ![]() Cheers, Ron in Indy |

It took me a minute to realize what it was but I then realized it was a Lamborghini and thought either Espada or Jalpa. Turns out the Jarama is basically an Espada, just more sporty.

Are we talking about his BBQ or the magnet on his refrigerator? He's entered several competitions with his BBQ you know! Roy, this reply was just for you.
![]() Harold P.S. Roy's car doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves because he doesn't allow it to be judged at events he's hosting. |

The BBQ is just something I have learned from other fine BBQ cookers on the competition circuit. The reason I do not put my car into competitions is simply because it would not be right for me to award myself something if I was lucky enough to earn an award. There are many other deserving Opels that show up at the AutoFair better than mine anyway! So there!
