Hey Mike
I was looking at the pics of that Rally too..looks pretty cool..but me with 7 Opels I just can't consider it!! BTW I know of a 74 Manta in Westmoreland CA (just a bit west of your journey) that is very solid ...the farmer said $100...anyone in the rust belt want a rust free 74 Manta? It needs: 1) passendger door glass 2) rear seat bottom Although I could not open the trunk so who knows what is in there

Hi Mike,
Please post pics of that Rally Kadett when you get it. It looks really nice from a distance! I looked at the pics on the eBay listing of the Manta (Item# 300124832324). The inquiry on eBay for the bumper/grill was from a Gordy, perhaps the Illinois member of this site "Gordy" who recently bought a '74 Manta? Anyway, any idea what it would take to ship a Manta hood from AZ to Wisconsin? Is the one on that car really nice? I could use a decent hood at some point for my '74 project car, although I won't be doing anything with it for awhile. In the meantime, there are a few small things I could use ...roof vents (if they're decent), washer bottle, radio knobs, switch blanks on either side of instrument panel, ashtray, lighter, rectangular trim around door locks, visor clips near mirror (if they're not all dried out/broken). THanks for looking into this! -Jeff W |

I think I should clarify. The interest had been that someone, Gordy perhaps, Had emailed this seller in Kingman with regard to selling the bumper. If Gordy or anyone else wants to cut a deal with this person on parts, I would be glad to pickup said parts and get them to Tucson for further distribution to new owners. I don't want any payment except shipping and I am not realy interested in handleing others monies. My "banker" has authorized me a specific amount of money to spend and no more. I had to "bribe" her with a promise of a hot time in Kingman where the most exciting thing there is the drive on Route 66.
928-757-3736 is his number in Kingman and 520-903-4576 is mine |

Thanks for clarifying, Mike. I'm on the road coming back from vacation, so I won't be able to work out something with the seller in time for Friday. I'll round up other sources for parts. Good luck with the Kadett!

Mike, Give me a call at 847-571-1331. He said he wants $50 for the bumper and $40 for the grill and chrome around it. If the bumper, mainly the front passenger side rubber strip is in good shape, I would be happy with those prices. If he would sell the strip alone for less, that would be kewl because it would lower the shipping costs. Maybe you could call me right from the boneyard and give me a ststus report. I can send you a check for parts, your labor, and shipping all in one before you would ship it out.

Gordy;
Here's something to think about. The screws and clips on the rubber pieces are probably rusted and would break if Mike tried to remove just the rubber pieces. It would be easier to leave them attached and just get the whole bumper with the rubber still attached and swap the bumper with the one on your car. It would be worth the extra $ if the rubbers are in good/decent shape and have the whole bumper shipped. JMTCW Gene

Thanks for the tip...that makes sense! I will call the bone yard in the morning and I have left a message with Mike as well. This Saturday I am going to a junk yard in Wisconsin that is supposed to have several Mantas, a Kadett, and some GTs. I won't be able to sleep Friday night!
I will post some pics of what they have over the weekend. |
