Woo-Hoo! . . . SUCCESS!!

Many of you that have been here a while know of my frustrating, more-than-five-year-and-counting search for an Opel dual-downdraft air filter housing for my Rekord C 'Sprint' dual DFO manifold. I've had several close calls for an original 'Sprint' air cleaner, but they all ended up just that, close calls.

It was beginning to look so hopeless that I decided to look at alternative, "look-alike" solutions and actually found several that would've been acceptable ones. The problem was, they were almost as rare as the original 'Sprint'!

Was browsing German e-Bay earlier today and put in a search for "opel luftfilterkasten" just for grins. I'm here to tell you that, "everything in life is TIMING!" . . .

. . . up pops "OPEL ADMIRAL -Diplomat-B!! Luftfilterkasten, Vergaser!!", the operative word here being "Vergaser", as in "Carburetors" and "CIH" in the description . . . I knew these cars used CIH-6s with twin, Zenith progressive 2-barrels!

. . . then I got REAL lucky, as in "low ad viewer count, no bids, starting price €29,99 and ~2.5 hours left!" . . . see what I mean about timing?!

Long story, short . . . mine was the only bid! I will have to modify the bottom somewhat to fit my carbs, but, when done, you won't be able to tell by looking at the top anyway . . . AND it's an Opel air cleaner!! I guess I can no longer use the "no air filter" excuse for not installing it in my Kadett! Woo-Hoo!!

Ah...a classic example of advanced Opelitis with a touch of Ebay fever...take 2 aspirin before you calculate the shipping charges and you'll be fine in the morning...

. . . I'll let you know, but after looking for "ANYTHING even close" and for so long, I can bear a little "shipping" pain . . .

i have been to every junk yard i know out to 50 mile from here in the last 6 months and not seen any

i have a friend from a ford transit site searching in germany for one but no word back yet

I have an order of 3 sets of Kadett windshield gaskets coming from Germany in the next week, you could have it shipped in with my stuff, as the cost ,as you my know, is a set Euro to kilos rate. Let me know and I will pass you the address in Berlin to you.
