Had some fun with a 911 today...

Everyday when I pull into work, I spot a yellow Porsche 911 parked in the employee lot. I have no idea who it belongs to and have never seen it pulling in or out - until today. As I was leaving the main entrance, I saw the Porsche speed around the corner and start to merge onto the highway. I decided for fun to try and catch it in my GT. I merged onto the highway and by then the Porsche was some distance ahead but it was clear for a mile or more in the lane to its right. I ran the GT up to about 90 or 95 MPH and went flying past him on the right - as we both exited at the first exit. I ended up a little ahead of him in the right lane of the exit ramp and he was to my left and a couple car lengths back. I could see him looking over the car probably wondering, "what the heck was that!?!" I decided to give the GT a good push through the left turn off the exit ramp and he quickly darted around some cars to easily catch me and we ended up side by side at the next light. I thought, "OK, I caught him by surprise on the highway and took advantage of him being trapped behind a couple cars at the last light, but this is where he shows me what's what..." I decided I would give it my best shot and watch as he left me in his dust. Instead, I launched forward and he jumped out and then held back. I quickly took advantage of an opening in his lane a few cars ahead of him to jump into that lane and then watched him disappear in my rear view mirror! Of course, he could have smoked me at any point along the way but I think just maybe he was wondering "what the heck is an Opel?" and "what is in that thing?" I may have duped him into believing I had more under the hood than I do. It was fun...

911 surprise move

Yes, you must have confused the driver or he didn't want to take a chance on going to jail. Yor have to have a very stout Opel or a very sick 911 for the GT to win that battle. Then again the 911 may have taken the attitude that you know you have fast car when you don't have to prove it at every stop light

You are having toooooooo much FUN with your "NEW GT". Keep it up but be careful - you don't want to scar up over a year's worth of rehab and a few $$$$$$$$$

A loose nut behind the wheel? Sorry Matt, I couldn't resist that one.

True - I am having a blast! I keep telling myself (and my wife) I need to be a different kind of driver in the GT. But it is just so tempting to push it now and then... I'm working on it though, maybe a 5 step plan is in order...
