Was at Hibdon Tire in Moore Oklahoma, having a flat fixed. The mechanic and I got on the subject about the foreign cars, we would like to own. I said there was an Opel GT that I got a ride in back in 1987(while I was in the Air Force). And he said, would you like to buy one.

...$900.00..A 69 GT(some rust), two hoods, two sets of doors, two engines and two transmisions....I said "hell yes"! Original color was a maroon/burgundy with red interior. Its going back together all stock.(maybe not the engine)

I couldn't have said it better. Although you took a day or two longer than I did on Willit? (7 years). You're total cost was way less, (we won't go there).

Otto, it is about 2.5 hours drive providing that you are lucky at the border. With strong Canadian Dollar a lot of people are shopping on the other side causing delays at the border.

Makes me happy for you to have the GT back on the wheels after 18 years, makes me sad that my Kadett will take another few years to be finished. I'm actually at the same exact 18 years right now from when I started. Man, you must feel gooood!

Took her for the appraisal at McGee Motors. The owner Ken McGee is recognized authority for classic cars. He has his own collection in a building next to the dealership which includes classic car literature as well.
The appraised value: $10,000 but this is not important. What I am really happy about is the overall restoration rating: 2 (the best is 1).
Ken did not like that I changed the steering wheel but he let it go as it had Opel logo. Good thing that I still did not put dual Webers and Getrag 240! They are ready but it will be a Spring project.

The appraisal info is an interesting bit of data too. Did you get that done for insurance purposes or just out of curiosity? Have a great time with your "new" GT!
