Last time he listed it he was asking $8,000. This time it's $5,000.
Nice car for the money, but I'd want to physically check it out before I parted with a penny....

Dieter!....are you trying to get me into trouble!!
Much as a 16V Kadett would be a lot of fun, I am trying to behave and not buy any more cars for a while (The SFS doesn't count Duane!). I just have to keep repeating what the Hypnotist said..."23 Opels are enough...., 23 Opels are enough...., 23 Opels are en....

S0 ......
Wouldn't the 180hp 16v red top motor/5-speed box/limited slip diff be worth the $5,000 ... just so it could be used for a GT conversion ??
Looks a 'cheap' way to get the good stuff for a 'killer' GT.

Because they're prettier, have a higher top speed & get more MPG because of superior aerodynamics and I can still get in and out of one, that's why! ![]() Harold P.S. Engine on this side of the pond not motor. |

No offense intended toward your prom queen, but your aerodynamically superior car was never banned by the SCCA because of aerodynamics like the Manta was. Fact is, Mantas ruled the twisties until all the crappy competition got together and kicked them out. They'd have preferred to allow a rebodied Kadett with the same old buggy springs, aka an Opel GT, had they been offered in the same class. Mantas provide the lifetime experience of a soul mate. But to be painfully honest, for the first time I do have a GT in my garage. Yes, it looks mysterious, has angles and is seductive. I'm thinking it's a fling, that I was seduced by the curves and that it could be trouble I will regret later. My knuckles are already indicating this. I'm not sure where it will end but I've got a feeling I will fix this GT up with care and yet it will leave me in the dark of night, after which I will replace it with a faithful and roomy SportWagon that can still kick that GT's a** up and down the road. Jim

![]() So your theme song is, "Get An Ugly Woman To Marry You". A couple of lines from the song: But if you make an ugly woman your wife, You'll be happy for the rest of your life. I bought an Ascona project car awhile back because guys like you insist on it's superiority, we'll see. ![]() Harold |

A Kadett C is technically the same thing as a Chevette, right?
So, what engine is that? Not what came in that car, huh? Whatever it is, I like it. Gotta be fun to drive.

used set of sport cam shafts - 100 Euro tuning chip - 50 Euro Getrag 5-speed to fit the (D)OHC - 500 Euro some other parts necessary - 100 Euro freight - 1000 Euro total - 2,550 Euro or 3,950 US$ Even with the ****ty Euro-Dollar exchange rate it still doesn't make sense to buy it for the motor and gear box. I respect all the people who love GTs for their lines, but anyone who thinks a Manta is ugly probably also thinks those anorexic models on the fashion runways are sexy. Mantas don't have to show their ribs to prove they're hot, and unlike the GTs, they have room for some junk in the trunk. And to Opelnut, I don't think any Opels were designed for straight line runs, the Sportwagon will get you in the turns, but I'll concede the point if it patches things up. I'm still coming to grips with the GT though. I keep kicking myself for not asking more details about Gary's GT shoot with Penelope Cruz when we were at Carlisle last week. Beat the hell out of my Manta's cover shot in Hemmings. But Gary's '51 Olympia had a certain mature appeal all its own that was obviously in demand. I was thinking Penelope liked it even better. Even if the GT turns out to be like driving my sister's old Kadett after a facelift, all Opels have character. Jim
