1974 Opel Sportwagon

Believe it or not, I had that exact same 1974 Opel GT Sports wagon that is pictured in the righthand side of the logo, same buick blue and everything! loved that car. unfortunately it was stolen in Washington State in the late 80's. Man I miss that car : (

Welcome to the forum Mark. The blue car in the picture is an Opel Sport Wagon (aka "Ascona"). The Opel "GT" is the one in red, a sporty two-seater.

I have (2) signal blue Sportwagons sitting at my house. One used to be my daily driver, but, is sidelined for resto/customizing. The other is a 75 being stripped for parts. My current daily driver is a 75 Sportwagon, white with hood painted Manta Rallye style, was automatic, but, has been converted to 5-spd. My wife drives a 74 jade green Sportwagon, her's is automatic.

Gene,
You weren't in Washington State during the late 80's, were you?

Garage
The Blue one in the masthead went from the original owner in Albany, NY to MA and it now lives in Canada.

Find or make another one. They aren't that hard to find, though you may have to accept the usually bad battery box.

I wish i could find another one. My DD 71 wagon is more of a parts car then a driver. Ill be looking for one in better shape rust wise soon, but i very rarely ever see one for sale either here or on evil bay.

West of the Mississippi

Gene,

What about the two trips to Texas with the Sport Wagon you are currently driving? Do those not count?

Gene, any other trips you don't recall anymore? Maybe back in the 80's?

You're right Dave, never even thought about them as I didn't have any car trouble or what, old age is definitely slipping up on me. Otto, you're correct too. I enjoyed the dinner we had at Sawgrass. See? I did remember the name of the place. You also showed me the "revision" of the oil filter set up that you made after your "stop over" in Doraville that one rainy night.

74 Sportswagon

On the title "1974 Opel GT Sportswagon"
It was a 5 speed manual transmission, counting reverse. No luggage rack on top. Car just vanished!
It was a very clean car that I bought for $90.00 in 1983
