Mike Bell's 73 GT

After sitting six years outdoors in Kansas, Mike took the cover off his 73 GT, turned the key and a short time later it fired up. Mike is in Virginia now stationed at Fort Belvior, and is where Jay and I went yesterday for meet and greet, and to lend our limited knowledge to assist with tune-up, clean/replace the valve cover/gasket, and collectively assessed ,and planned some of the other maintenance requirements needed after such a long hibernation period. Mike is still waiting for a RADIATOR (auto trans type) to replace the leaking one under the hood. Some of the interesting things with Mike's GT are, still has a workable clock, stock AM radio w/no static, a dealer installed vinyl roof with stainless steel borders, and every one of the car's chimes (door, ignition key, seat belts) work. Anyway it was a pleasure for Jay, and I to help out another local OPEL owner to increase our metropolitan Washington, DC area clan of Mitch, Jay, Mike, hopefully Fred in Frederick, Md, and some other guys in Northern Virginia. Look out Carlisle 2010, WE ARE COMING!!!!!

I need to start, by thanking Thomas and Jay for their assistance as we work to get her back shape and for posting these pics. Will post more once she is back on the road.

Interesting roof. I don't recall seeing vinyl on a GT before. Sure makes the car look different from most GT's. Nice.

I have seen the GT's with that type of roof but it is rare. Hey Mike, you must be a good guy if your last name is "Bell"!!!! Good looking car!

Yeah, I remember thinking it would be neat if mine worked to. They didn't stay connected long.
