cam locking plate
Must be talking about a small block chevrolet locking plate. My question is why would you need a locking plate on a Opel CIH cam. it is held on the timing gear with three bolts, and if lock tighted, they are not going anywhere. The cam button keeps the cam from "walking" so it just seems a little overkill to me and something else to drop down the front cover and cause more problems than it prevents.

Belt & Bracers ...
As any experience engine builder knows: "If it can come loose - it will ... and usually in the middle of a race or long drive ..."
I have used Loctite(tm) AND lock wire at times on critical components - still had a cap screw head 'pop' off and flail around on the lock wire once ..... Lock plates serve a couple of purposes - the obvious one is physically preventing the fastener undoing. Another is that it provides a nice flat washer under all the fasteners. Nice to know - Thanks!
