Rear main seal installer so you do not damage or distort the outer part of the rear main seal and it will remain flush to the block. You first install the seal lip by hand with a feeler gauge to start the seal on to the crankshaft and use this tool to seat seal flush to block. HTH

    Valve spring checker

This is one of my favorite tools, a valve spring pressure checker. Made of a piece of flat stock and a hunk of angle iron, the most important part is a rear wheel drum brake cylinder from a Chevy Suburban (I don't remember the year). One model has a 1-1/8" bore for the cylinder which has 0.994 square inches of piston area. When used in conjunction with a pressure gauge on the fluid "inlet", it reads directly in pounds (psi x 1 sq in). I haven't found a good method to measure the spring compression (all tries have some problems), but getting there. I use my drill press and set a known displacement, but have some worries about "slop". I'm trying to rig a small digital caliper into the system which can be "zeroed out" when the slop is gone, but need to figure out how to hold it in place. Enjoy! -- Doug
