GT rear side light bracket

After spending nearly 20 minutes of trying to get the nut on the top bracket of the rear side light on the GT ( big hands) I went and asked the wife if she could try it- 10 seconds later she had it on. I told her she was lucky and bet she couldn't do it again on the other side- 7 seconds and done. Now I got to go and pay off my bet. I probably won't be online for a couple of hours- later

You know the same thing happened to us. My husband tried forever and then the wife's small hand struck good luck again. It seems to be a popular thing with my engine, just happened again tonight so I guess everyone will be paying off their bets. Keep up the good work us wives have to stick together.

Yup for every one I've taken off or put on I've found a lost bracket nut and usually a wrench or socket in the back of cars. The rear trim strip is worse.

I thought of using metric "wing nuts" to secure the rear side marker light brackets instead of the nut. Haven't tried my idea yet.

Tricky

The trickis to put them in BEFORE the fuel tank goes back in - and send a small child way back in there to put the nuts on. The wing nuts sound a good idea too.

That is all I use- the nuts are impossible unless your double jointed

Another option

When i replaced the backlights of my GT i see the PO used the same "nuts" as where the instruments are fixed with.
Not a bad idea either, i think.

Lucky Me

I guess being small in stature is a good thing working on Willit? I've removed and re-installed the aformentioned nuts, along with removing the rear trim strip mounting hardware. Of course having a pencil type telescoping magnet doesn't hurt either.
