Opel related, somewhat

I was watching early late night TV (I know, oxymoron) but, a commercial came on stating that the first season of "Get Smart" was out on DVD. I don't remember what season it was, but, I think it was during the last season(s) that he drove a gold GT. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is a line or two from Wikipedia The start of the 1968 season put Smart in a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia for the opening credits, which never appeared in the show itself. He also began driving a 1969 Opel GT, with a variation of the shoe phone, namely a giant rotary telephone dial covering the steering wheel. The show ranrom 1965-1970, so it would have been the 1970 season

Of course, no authority here, but I believe that he first drove a Sunbeam Tiger, (convertible), then the VW, and in the final years our beloved GT. If I am wrong... then 'Missed by that much!' And Gene, I think he actually drove the GT in more than just the opening credits in a few episodes ( the marraige one to 99 comes to mind) I think this has been refered to before in the "Opel Sightings" thread...

Here's a quote from another website:

"In season five, Max drives a gold, 1969 Opel GT. He also drove the Opel in the episodes, so it can really be called his second car. Interestingly enough, Max's Opel also appeared in the movie "Stripes." This car was used extensively by Max in the 5th season and can be called Max's second car."

All five seasons are available on DVD from Time-Life. I loved that show, but would rather spend the money on the Opel!

Can anyone verify the sighting of the Opel in Stripes?

Yep. It's an Orange GT as the bus pulls into the base in the overhead shot.

OPEL GT episodes in last run, so think GT is Season 5. My most favorite with GT is, "And Baby Makes Four Part I and Part II." Episodes show numerous scenes with Max and 99 speeding through Washington DC is his 1969 Gold Opel GT.
