just watched a top gear (brit car show) special where the presenters had to cross Botswana in 2 wheel drive cars
one used a 1964 kadett

Richard named the car Oliver.. its the first time a car on top gear has ever been named. One of their better episodes, sadly it fueled my opelitis any one know where I can find a yellow and white 64 kadett ?

I was just watching it on BBCA yesterday. Unfortunately for us, they seem to air ours a season behind. (So I've heard) Torrents are a must! I just got done watching the one where they crossed the Southeast in their beatup cars and tried to incite stuff in good ol' Alabama.

My TiVo recorded this episode finally at 2:00am this morning (had it on my wish list). What a great episode - one of the best ever! I don't know why they think naming a car is stupid - if you can name a boat then why not a car? If you are adding it to your DVR search list / wish list / etc. the episode name is "Botswana Special".

Except isn't a boat's name supposed to stay with it even once the vessel changes owners?

If the same were true of our cars it would be a lot harder to part with them, and not that Opel owners aren't sentimental enough!

in the newest season they bring the kadett back. they all learn how to drive semi trucks and they put precious things behind them when they are trying to learn to take off on a hill. they put the kadett behind richard hammonds truck. looks like he has done quite a bit of work on it since the africa episode.

The file is approx 700 MB, I downloaded earlier today, took ~30 minutes (3.5 Mbps connection).

That is one of my favorite episodes, followed by the RV camping (where Richard through the flaming pillow out the window into the neighbor's tent). And I also enjoyed the road trip from Florida to New Orleans, especially the incident at the gas station with the deliverance family.

I've burned the episodes to DVD and sent them to my son who is deployed in Iraq. Top Gear now has quite the following within the 101st Airborne (Air Assault).

I went to the Top Gear US web site and noticed that the season that just ended for us in the USA is called "Season 10". So, we are a full season behind here as CoriolisSTORM pointed out. Season 11 will be starting here soon just as Season 12 is starting in the UK. I can't bring myself to watch "ahead" on my PC - I'll wait patiently and watch the epsiodes on my TV.
