Opel GT Pin from Eagle Emblems

I was in Dahlonega, GA this weekend browsing in a general store and came across a lapel pin for sale that looks a lot like an Opel GT. However, this pin has markings on the door that don't look right (everything else looks correct). I bought it anyway and then did some research having the manufacturer name and the pin part number (6680). I came up with this site. So, it is supposed to be an Opel GT but again the door markings are odd. It's a good quality pin and was in the "Sports and Import" pin section of a display of pins for sale at this general store. What's funny is there were very few pins in this section for sale and yet they had the Opel GT in red, black, and white. Nothing major but I thought it was pretty cool...

Matt;
That's a GT, it's just got some stripes on the door. Comes out better on the white one. I have several of these and they also make a Manta A one too, or did at one time.

Opel pins

Matt, I received mine from Tom Adkins a year or so ago in the color white as well. Feel honored now that you are now part of a long tradition of Opel pin owners, and now you can be accepted in our secret meetings.

Well, I almost passed on it but couldn't resist (good thing I didn't). Now I just need to learn the secret handshake...

My wife found the red one at a car show last month and we bought it. I'm thinking someone got those door markings confused with the "gill" vents in a Corvete, and missed the fender by 1/16th of an inch on the prototype.

Regardless, I like it.

Thumbs up More cool pins...

FYI - I recently bought three more pins (all off eBay from "burgerweb"). They are very nice, high quality, and I recommend them as great inexpensive Opel souvenirs.

Matt;
The seller you bought those from is a guy by the name of "Hamburger Harry", a German who moved to the US and is CRAZY about hamburgers. He even had a custom motorcycle built in the shape of a hamburger. He also is a big Opel fan, hence the pins.

I have bought one of just about every Opel pin he sells. He's had a few others over the years, now he's got it pared down a little.
