Keith,

Didn't you use to live up in that area at one time or at least have kin there? Get 'em Otto!

Vickie,
I'll take Keith's word for it that it looks good, because we won't get that magazine for at least another month or two around here.

Congrats!

Harold really is trying to give Otto a run for his money - he even put the correction in red. Those Hemmings guys really do like Opels!

More GT's in car magazines !!!

Just came back from a short trip to Germany, and got the latest "Motor Klassik" at the airport. Bosch is advertizing their spark plugs with a red (US version of the ) GT.

Also, the September issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car shows another picture of last year's Springfield, IL car show, to announce this year's AutoFair at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Harrisburg, NC.

Pretty cool

Zunderkerzen Ad

Dieter, Great Zunderkerzen Ad ! Thanks for posting. Would you please translate to English the top line, "Damit........" . I have Cassells German-English Dictonary but it has too many choices for every word. Did you bring back a brochure for new Opel GT ? I have one for Saturn Sky, wondering about difference. Thanks, Roy

FYI - I was able to pick one of these up off eBay from a German seller (but on the U.S. eBay site). It is a very nice hard cover book full of great photos. All in German though of course...

Top line means "Making sure there is always a spark". Kind of ambiguous, since you can use spark for ignition and for the spark between 2 people ...

Did not pick up a German brochure for the new GT. If you want one, I can have my Dad send one over. Let me know.

Translation

Thanks, I couldn't make much sense of it on my own. I like the way the lines of car and plug match at rear body/plug base and front fender/plug tip also, great fit/fine ad! Makes me want to buy sparkplugs and drive my GT! Doing a tune-up next week. I have dealer brochure for Opel Speedster, in German of course, would be happy to have same for new Opel GT. let me know cost, postage, etc. , I will cover it. ( I subscribed to Flash for a year so know postage isn't free). Thanks again. ..Roy

New Sighting in Hemmings

In the September 2008 Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car, Page 10 is a blurb about Opels coming to Lowe's Motor Speedway in Harrisburg, North Carolina.

That picture isn't of Springfield, but probably Lowes Speedway.

I had written Hemmings a few months ago about our "National" event at Lowe's but I never heard back from them. I guess they printed something about it... Cool..... The picture in the article is Tom's Adkins' GT at Lowe's Motor Speedway from a previous year!

Racing Manta in Hemmings

Just received the November issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car. Has an article about the VW Rabbit (Golf) racing scene. However, one picture shows a Manta leading the field ...

The September, 2009 issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic features a six page spread on the Bitter SC. The featured car is a 1985 black 3.8 litre automatic belonging to a gentleman named David Miller. The article heavily praises the Opel Sentator and the parts it contributed to the Bitter SC. The issue also features Opel as the marque in the Famous Over There series. Small pics of Jim/Timemachine's yellow Manta and the ultra low mile red GT (I think it is Flyboy's??) are shown. The article gives a brief overview of Opel history, its U.S. involvement through various cars/GM marques, and predicts for the future that "one way or another, Opel will likely have a hand in something coming to American shores."

I finally got around to reading this issue. Good Opel stuff in here - I recommend picking up a copy at the bookstore if you don't subscribe.

And another Opel GT in the latest Hemmings Sports and Exotic car magazine.
Not that obvious, so I am letting you subscribers guess where it is. There are actually several Opels in that picture. No rewards, though, for the one who sees them first ...
