Opel Racer Earns Rookie Of The Year
My son earned Rookie Of The Year and finished sixth in points of thirty four cars racing for points with a third place finish at out final race of the year last night. It was a battle to the end and we could not have pulled it off without all of your help. Thank you, Team 71 |

Hooray! Way to go Scott and Bub! I know it wasn't easy, but you held in there and worked hard.
Yes, get the pictures up! Plus you should invite our friends here to the racechat DCS forums to see what you've been through and who you race with. It's huge, because your Manta must be the only Opel known (at this site anyway) to be competing in that type of racing now. Our last race of the season was great, too! Not Opel related, sorry, the GT refused to be part of the crap going on in Compact, but in Limited Sportsman we ended up second in points for the season. We're kinda tickled, considering the awesome competition in that class!

Hope this worked, Here are a couple of pictures. One is total focus from Jr. with the task at hand in staging one is of him pushing a Ford down the front straight and another of the red Nissan 240SX he was in a four point difference for the Rookie of the year (came down to the last race). Both are kids and none of the other rookies were even in the hunt. I am proud of them both. I have better pictures, just not on the PC at this time.

Great Job! I know you gotta be proud of your son. Great to have that kind of relationship too. I like the "action" photos. Not to often you get to see an Opel on the track anymore.
No criticism, but a photo tip. Rather than hold the camera pointed at a spot waiting for the car to go buy, I suggest, aiming at the car as it approaches and follow it in your viewfinder. When the car gets to where you want to take the picture, continue moving the camera with the car as you press the shutter button. Continue following the car until the photo is taken. This will keep the car relatively steady and sharp while the foreground and background go wizzing by. Because of the relatively dim light on the track, if your camera allows you to increase the ISO speed, crank it up to 1000-1600 if possible. This will help the exposure too. Takes a little practice but I think you and your son will get some great action photos that both of you will cherish for years. Great season, maybe next season, this year's experience will move him even higher in the standings! Keep us informed. Rick |
