GT on Speed Channel

I just watched (and recorded) a "Mother's Car Show" episode on ESPN Classic (sorry, not on Speed). And guess what, they featured a GT as part of their Chevy special. Highly modified, but very nicely done. Anyone knows the Ohio owner - Bruce Tuerck ???

What kind of a reporter asks questions like "do they still make it today?" when talking about a nearly 40 year old car???

I am not sure that was just any reporter. It looked like Don Garlits(?) to me.

Yup. It's Don Garlites.

These interviews are obviously done ad libbing and minor factual mistakes are liable to be left in the final cut since the producer can't simply go back and re shoot the particular interview. I'm just happy that Opels are still getting attention on these car shows.

That said. Garlites is probably a bit out of his element discussing the fine points of Opels.
But he probably asked if they were still being made more for the audiences benefit rather then him not knowing .

Yes, Bruce Tuerck of West Chester, OH

Did an interview with him over the telephone in 2007.

Very nice guy. Had him on the phone for almost 50 minutes.

His goal on the GT was to make everything fit under the hood, sans the hood scoop to clear the carb, and air cleaner.

He mentioned to me the car drives very well, both, in a straight line and around corners!!

He did the full resto in about 5 years time starting with an absolute turn of a GT. He said everything was ruined by the previous owner who slathered the entire car in paint stripper.
Not a single lens or interior part was not melted by the stripper agent.

Great Guy.

The Blitz issue his car is in is the Nov/Dec 2007 issue entitle 'Asphalt Adrenaline'.
