True, there weren't any car chase scenes, and no gunplay at all.

Well Joe, you just answered a question one member on here has been asking for a while. They have been asking whether Opel made a "Signal Blue" Manta Rallye, and this proves it.

There's an Opel GT about 10 minutes into Two Lane Blacktop, the 1971 car classic with James Taylor, Warren Oates and Dennis Wilson. It's real quick, a driveby after they win the first drag race and right before they stop to change tires.

Any car movie collector worth his salt HAS to have this one.

BONUS! How cool is that Signal Blue Rallye? Gives me inspiration for when my Rallye gets its turn at restoration (quite a bit down the road at this point), with the original color of Signal Blue, of course! Now I can just squint and picture this game show beauty when I look at my heap. Thanks Joe, you made my day!

just did a quick search on google itsTHE OMEGA MAN
"The Omega Man" is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid. I just watched it on Blu-Ray Disc in HD on my son's PS3. The Opel GT is yellow and on camera for a good minute or more as Charlton Heston decides to steal the powder blue Ford Mustang parked next to it. I yelled at him to take the GT because Mustangs are a dime a dozen but he didn't listen to me...

BTW, "The Omega Man" is based on the book "I Am Legend" which of course is the basis for the current movie "I Am Legend" starring Will Smith. I give both movies two thumbs up!

Seems they had a streak of trying to give the Opels away on "Let's Make a Deal" in early '70's. On the GSN rerun yesterday (1/29/08), 4 chances to win on one show.
First a couple won a green 1900 wagon. Bit later a contestant turned down a chance to win a Manta. Then another contestant turned down for $1000 cash a chance to win BOTH cars! Total MSRP for both, as Jay Stewart says 'With air conditioning, tax, and licence", was just under $10,000 for both. The couple who one the first one (1900 wagon) actually traded it for chance at the "Big Deal" and then ended up with the big deal of the day which was a Buick Riviera. MSRP just around $8,500.

    Aero GT Model

Maybe this is an Opel sighting but this thread seems more media focused than an actual sighting...

The August, 2009 copy of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car features the Opel Aero GT model on page 58. They give the model high marks for quality and detail noting that you better get one quick as they are in limited supply.

Check out the new movie G.I.Joes and in the Paris sequence you will see the good guys driving an Opel van through the city. Very Cool.

    Vintage Opels in "Inglorious Bastards"

I saw the new Quentin Tarantino film "Inglorious Bastards" this evening. Its a WW2 movie. An Opel Blitz German Army truck is frequently seen. I also spotted what looks to be about a 1939 Opel Kapitan outside the movie theater in Paris (in the film).

Too cold to go outside much today so I watched a couple movies (along with a "little" football) It's always fun to watch Gumball Rally and see all the cars from the '60s- '70s including this white GT near the end of the film. There are probably other Opels, but this is the only one that caught my eye.
